This choice: Tiny Trucy and the unaware Feys • Go Back... "Oh, c'mon, you worked the first time..."
Trucy looked over the small prop in her hand for something that might've gone wrong with it. It had worked properly just a minute ago.
She looked toward the clock. Unless they were late, Pearl and her cousin Maya would be arriving within minutes. She frowned at the prop and shook it around, listening for any loose parts, but heard none.
She sighed and started the trick involving this new prop over again.
It was supposed to create the illusion that the spare hat it was sitting on top of was changing size, which it had done correctly on her first practice.
Soon, the time came for it to play its part again, and Trucy watched eagerly.
Nothing happened.
She struck a pout. How was she supposed to surprise Pearl and Maya with her new material if it didn't want to work? She made to pick the thing up again, but as soon as her hand touched it, she felt something strange.
All of a sudden, the world seemed to spin around her. Trucy flinched, pulling her hand away, and the moment she did, everything returned to normal.
Well, "normal" wasn't the word.
She wasn't dizzy any more, but something was extremely wrong. Where was she...? It was like blinking and finding herself in a totally different place. She hadn't passed out or anything, right?
She turned and almost fell over out of shock. Before her, a massive tower of white rose up from the ground. Under her feet, it split off into a wide ring of flat terrain of pale blue. She craned her neck upward and saw where it ended, high above. The white colour gave way to the same pale blue of the ground partway up.
And then it hit her. She was looking up at her spare hat. As if on cue, the hat on her head slipped free and dropped to the ground behind her.
But if that was her hat, it was taller than the entire office building. It would've towered right over it in size.
She looked around, scooping her hat back off the ground. Suddenly, she recognized all the strange sights around. She was in almost the same place as before.
She hadn't moved, she'd shrunk.
