Both Klavier and Blackquill made immediate efforts to move away from the building's doors once outside.
"Hold it there!" Edgeworth ordered them. They both halted.
"What, you'd rather we wait around to take up the entire parking lot?" Blackquill barked back.
"Use your head," Edgeworth said, breathing slowly, "If you try and run off to somewhere else while this process is still going on, the vertigo could cause you to lose your footing, and I don't think I need to tell you that falling over right now would almost certainly be disastrous."
Blackquill glared, but seemed to find the reply acceptable. Klavier sighed, for once unable to say a thing.
Meanwhile, at ground level, Ema was leading a panicked group out the building's side exit. She directed them to a safe location before turning on her heel and running for the front of the building. She needed to see what the hell was going on for herself. It was just unbelievable...
"My God..." she breathed, halting in place.
Klavier, Edgeworth, and Blackquill were still getting bigger. Their height had clearly eclipsed the 30-foot mark, and they were still going. She felt like fainting.
In the street, traffic had halted, and people were fleeing the scene in a confused panic. This was going to be bad.
She was surprised to hear a chuckle from above. She looked up to see Klavier looking at her, a pained smile on his face.
"I've asked before, Fraulein," he said, "but I'm still not sure if you're into tall men."
Ema stood stunned for a moment, then blinked twice and sank her face into one of her palms. Even with this unbelievable growth going on, Klavier was still the same guy as ever.
She swore under her breath, then looked up just in time to see something else shocking. The gigantic prosecutor trio suddenly went through an abrupt growth spurt, all of them shooting upward about another twenty feet at once. Ema staggered back in disbelief, and Klavier took a large step toward her. In spite of herself, she screamed as he extended a very large hand toward her.
Surprisingly gentle fingers took a hold on her and lifted her from the ground. She struggled for a moment, but then thought better of it and went still. Klavier lifted her upward as he stood upright. His tanned face hovered before her, its size increased in all directions. She wanted to shout at him, but was too shocked to do so, instead just resting back in his palm and panting with exertion.
Klavier stepped back to the other two prosecutors with Ema in hand. If he and the others were going to keep growing, he wanted to ensure her safety.
Blackquill and Edgeworth were arguing again.
Ema cleared her throat.
"Uh... h-hey, Mr. Edgeworth!" she said nervously, waving. He halted in his conversation with Blackquill, looking surprised to see her in Klavier's hand.
"M-Ms. Skye." he said stiffly. "... My apologies for all of this."
"Um..." Ema began, thinking for a moment. "... What the hell is going on...?" she asked, sounding a bit desperate.
Edgeworth hesitated, then adjusted his glasses and attempted to explain.
Ema felt like fainting again. The explanation didn't help much.
"W-well..." she attempted to say, only to be interrupted. Klavier's hand shifted under her feet, and she fell onto her back. He'd grown again, and so had the other two.
"Oh my God..." she repeated.
"Sod it." Blackquill snapped. He was running out of room in front of the Prosecutor's Office. He and the others were now so large that their height exceeded several of the surrounding buildings. He straightened up, standing to his full height, even as Edgeworth attempted to stop him.
A car alarm went off below as Blackquill's right boot knocked the vehicle aside.
"Are you-..." Edgeworth glared intently at his subordinate. "Do you realize the damage you could do here?"
Blackquill didn't answer, just folding his arms and glaring back for several seconds. At last, he spoke up.
"At this rate, our posture doesn't matter. Unless this growth stops, we'll be damaging everything around us all the same." he said.
Edgeworth sighed. Then, he stood up as well. Klavier followed suit, and the trio all rose to their full heights.
Ema felt very small all of a sudden, stuck in Klavier's hand. She had tried to argue against Blackquill in Edgeworth's place, but had been ignored.
She got to her feet for herself and threw a very satisfying punch at Klavier's thumb. He looked down.
"Put me on the damn ground." she said firmly. Klavier looked anxious about doing so.
At last, the trio's growth seemed to slow to a stop. They'd all surpassed the 100-foot mark, judging by their surroundings.
Ema was protesting, but the prosecutors were focused on examining the space around them by now, leaving her to continue shouting from Klavier's palm.
Below, countless people stared in awe and panic at the scene, being surveyed by three colossal prosecutors. The fact that one of them was Klavier Gavin did not go unnoticed; a few squealing voices of feminine joy could be heard amidst the panic.
They were all feeling something strange at the moment. Pushing past their own panic at the prospect of damaging their surroundings, there was an odd feeling arising within them. Something like... power.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
