Jia floated naked in the pod for a very long time. Even though it was crowded sharing it with Hannah, in a way it was nice. Unbirthing pods could get lonely after a while and sharing it with another girl helped ease the loneliness. Eventually, little Jia started to get hungry. She knew that nutrients could be pumped into her through the umbilicus attached to her bellybutton, but it just wasn't as satisfying as actual eating. Just as she hoped, the water in the unbirthing pod began to drain shortly after she became hungry.
Mrs. Smith and her assistant Marion opened up the pod. Jia gasped for air and Hannah coughed some of the water out of her body. The cool air hit Jia like a brick. She immediately began shivering. So did Hannah. The two umbilicuses disconnected from the girls' bellybuttons and fell to the side. Mrs. Smith held out a large towel. Jia and Hannah both got wrapped the towel around themselves and huddled together for warmth.
"Calmed down?" Mrs. Smith said.
Jia and Hannah nodded.
"Are you two going to behave?" She asked.
"Yes Mrs. Smith." The cold naked girls chorused.
"Good. Let's get you two dressed. It's time for lunch.
Mrs. Smith got to diapering Hannah, while Marion took Jia. Jia was set down, dried off a bit more, and put in a diaper. Marion also gave Jia back her unicorn T-shirt.
"All done. Come on, let's get you something to eat. You must be starving." Marion said.
Unbirthing pods did tend to leave anyone left in them tired and hungry for some reason.
Jia and Hannah went to the lunchroom to pick up some food. They both decided to have sandwiches and sat down at their table with Cassy. Their hair was still damp from the unbirthing pod.
"Man, you guys were gone for a long time." Cassy said.
"Tell me about it. I was bored out of my skull." Hannah said.
Jia sighed and took a bite of her sandwich.
"We didn't miss anything too important, did we?" Jia asked.
"Not really. Just read the science book, all the photosynthesis stuff we learned is in there." Cassy said.
The girls soon finished eating. It was just about time for recess. Cassy stood up to leave, but Hannah stayed behind.
"You staying back?" Cassy asked.
"Yeah... I'm still a bit tired out from being in that stupid pod." Hannah said.
Cassy turned to Jia.
"What about you, Jia? If we go quick we might get a place on one of the swing sets." Cassy said.
