"What are you babbling about Sarah?" said Sarah's old body to Roy. "So what if I have boobs! That doesn't make me a girl."
"What?" said Roy, in stunned confusion. "Of... of course it does. I mean... look at us! Sarah, I've got a penis... and I strongly doubt you have one!"
"Duh!" said Sarah's body. "Of course I don't have a penis. Not that it's any of your business, Sarah."
"Well... doesn't that prove you're female?" asked Roy.
"Look, Sarah... I'm starting to believe parts of your story," said Sarah's body. "You're acting way too weird for the normal Sarah I know. I don't remember using this little high-tech gizmo on you. But since you know all about it, and you're acting so crazy all of a sudden... well, the only logical explanation is that I used this device on you already and something happened. I just don't remember it."
"But..." Roy tried interrupting.
"Hang on just a second," continued Sarah's body. "I'll try to explain as best as I can. I suspect your memories got re-written somehow... or maybe you're actually from another parallel universe, just like the clone of me who gave me this device in the first place. Anyhow, in this reality biological gender doesn't determine your sex. I mean, just look at the two of us! You were born male and I was born female. But my folks wanted a boy, so they named me Roy and raised me as a guy. I've always thought of myself as a dude. Everyone's always treated me as a dude. I like girls, but I don't want to be one. So I don't wear dresses, skirts, and shit. And yes, I have these tits. But I'm not going to be all fruity and wear a bra! That's just crazy. Some day, I'll save up enough money to have surgery done and get them removed. But in the meantime, they're no big deal. Lots of people out there are like us. You've never told me you're story, Sarah. But I'm guessing your parents wanted a girl. So when you were born physically male, they just named you Sarah and raised you to be a girl. You've always been treated as a girl for as long as I've known you. I mean, you're dating my roommate Jack. He treats you like a girl. I don't know what the two of you do in the bedroom -- and that's none of my business anyhow! But you obviously like guys, Sarah. And you wear women's clothing and use the ladies room out in restaurants and stuff. All your friends act like you're just a regular, ordinary girl."
"Well, before I used that device on myself," said Roy. "I was YOU. I mean, I was Roy Milford, not Sarah Howard. And reality was WAY different. Men were men and women were women. I mean, yeah there were transvestites and transsexual people. But it wasn't, y'know, like an everyday normal occurence. And you and I were DEFINITELY not transsexuals. You were a normal, biologically female girl... and I was a dude! Physically and mentally and everything, I was a guy. And was Roy!"
"Well, I'm sorry Sarah," replied Sarah's body. "But you're not Roy anymore. And history has apparently been totally re-written from the weird, boring reality you remember. You're now Sarah -- a biologically male girl."
"But..." pleaded Roy.
"Look, Sarah, I understand you're pretty confused," continued Sarah's body. "And I do believe that obviously SOMEthing happened to you, or at least to your memories. If you want, we can experiment with this little high-tech gizmo -- I'd love to try it out and see if it works. Maybe we can somehow use it to make you biologically female, to match your identity and be the woman you remember from that past reality you're from."
"I'm not that woman!" protested Roy. "You are! I'm the real Roy and you're the real Sarah -- the biologically female Sarah, I mean!"
"Sarah, I already told you," said Sarah's body. "I don't want to be a girl. I'm a dude who just happens to have a female body. I'm not interested in using this gizmo to make us switch places. I'm Roy and I want to stay that way... as a guy!"
