"Hey Franzy! Can you hear me?" Larry tried to say to Franziska as he floated in front of her face. She didn't notice him at all and continued talking.
"The Prosecution has decisive evidence against the defendant, Larry Buttz," she spoke with satisfaction as she stretched her whip over her head. "The prosecution calls to the bench Det-" Suddenly, Franziska went silent and her arms became limp. The court stared in confusion as the prosecutor seemed frozen.
"Uh, Ms. Von Karma, are you quite alright?" The Judge asked.
Suddenly, Franziska shook her head, and looked down at herself, a broad, uncharacteristic grin going across her face as she patted herself down, hands jumping from her chest to her stomach to her thighs.
"Mi-miss Von Karma, what is wrong with you!?" The judge asked again, banging the gavel. Phoenix and Maya were similarly confused as the typically serious prosecutor began to giggle with glee, hopping up and down like a child.
"Ah! Uh," 'Franziska' -possessed by Larry- looked up at the judge with a nervous grin. "Uh, what was I saying?"
"You have decisive evidence you said! You were calling a witness," the judge replied. "You... you do have a witness right?"
Larry was fiddling with Franziska's earrings as he thought out a response. "Uhm... no! I lied actually," he told the judge, smiling all throughout. "Larry is like, totally innocent, and I think he's really cute!"
On the defense bench, Phoenix and Maya were very perplexed. "Nick... do you think..."
Phoenix turned to Maya and whispered back, "it can't be, but there's no other explanation. I think it worked!"
"Ms. Von Karma, you can't be serious! The police investigation turned up no evidence, you claim? Why are we even holding a trial then?"
'Franziska' just shrugged, "I don't know! Ask the detective. Anyways, the prosecution rests your highness!"
"That's your honor!" The judge was absolutely baffled, but he didn't really know how to proceed without the prosecution well... prosecuting. "Urk, well, in absence of any testimony or evidence, I suppose the court moves to... find Mr. Larry Buttz... innocent?"
Confetti rained from the sky as the verdict was declared. Larry spun around on one foot and was about to free himself from the courtoom, but tripped up and landed straight on his face due to Von Karma's heels. He looked up to see both Phoenix and Maya standing over him, Phoenix stretching out a hand to help him up. "Uh! Oh, thanks," Larry responded as Phoenix pulled him to his feet.
"Von Karma, is there..." Phoenix was unsure of how to proceed.
"Something you would like to tell us?" Maya asked more confidently. "Something about a certain Mr. Buttz?"
Larry stared at them for a second, recalling that Phoenix still had the device, which meant that his only way out of Franziska's body was Phoenix's help. But, if he told Phoenix what had happened now then Phoenix would surely ruin his fun. Did he admit he was Larry, or did he try to drag things out and get away before Phoenix and Maya could be sure?
