Chapter #5

Refuge from the Jungle

    by: Unknown
You decide the huge building built right in the center of the zoo would be your best bet, or at least a good place to start. You snuck through the zoo as stealthily as you could, everything seeming eerily quiet. All the exhibits were empty and torn to pieces, the pathways were completely clear… you’ve never seen the zoo quite this empty. Vines and weeds overtook the concrete walls as the zoo was reclaimed by nature, and the place was starting to resemble a jungle in its own right. You were getting increasingly creeped out as you ventured deeper and deeper into the decrepit zoo.

You grew so complacent with the emptiness, just as you walked up to the zoo center, you ended up bumping right into one of the aliens you were trying to avoid. Your heart seized -- you stepped back and stared up like a deer into headlights as she turned around. She resembled an gazelle of some kind, with light brown, patterned fur and two twitched ears jutting out of her head. At a stunning nine feet tall, she almost towered over you, with you standing at waist-level compared to her. She was stark naked, of course, showing off her curvy, sylphlike body and incredible bust in clear detail. She could almost be a supermodel, if it wasn’t for her snout. You weren’t surprised; all the animals had bodies like this now, though you had never gotten the chance to see one up close.

“Aww! Well hello there, little man!” She greets, talking in a sing-song tone like she was speaking to a puppy dog. You blushed as she bent over to greet you, her voluptuous breasts dangling in front of your face. “Did you get separated from your mistress, kiddo? I can help you find her.”

“I… don’t have one,” you manage to choke out. You manage to take another step back, but mostly remain locked in place, convinced she was going to grab you at any second.

The gazelle seems confused briefly, before smiling. “Ah! You must be a gift sent by the queen, then! She did say she was going to send the zoo a slave or two,” she realizes. You were about to correct her, but before you could, she pointed to the zoo center doors. “Well, why didn’t you say so? Zoo center’s probably the safest place to be around here. You should head inside before someone swallows you up.”

You were prepared to correct her assumption, but you stopped in your tracks. “Swallows me…?” you ask, taken aback. You’d never heard of a human being eaten before.

“Oh, there’s plenty of animals ‘round this zoo that would just gobble up a boy like you whole!” she giggles. You look around in horror, realizing you didn’t remember the way back to the exit of the zoo. You were stuck here, and this place was a lot more dangerous than it seemed. “You sure are lucky I found you first.”

You didn’t want to serve her or anything, but if you told her you weren’t a slave, you feared that she might just leave you to fend for yourself. You’ve seen how huge some of these aliens can get; if one of them tried to eat you, there’s no way you would be able to fight back! Getting into that zoo center seemed like your best bet for safety… but to do that, you had to pretend to be just another brainwashed slave. At least for the time being. “Y-yes, ma’am,” you said, in the most obedient voice you could muster, and hurried to the zoo center’s doors, not wanting to be standing around in the jungle any longer.

The interior of the building was warm and comfortable, with beautiful African-styled architecture, with rounded green walls and brown flooring. From a quick glance around, you spotted a few smashed-up exhibits, offices hidden out of view and even a cafe overlooking the savannah outside. You shuffle nervously into the lobby, wondering just what you’ve gotten yourself into. You didn’t see any other animals… does the gazelle lady live alone here? Speak of the devil, you were startled slightly when you heard her hooves clap across the tiley floor towards you.

“Haha, well, uh, pardon our mess! We weren’t expecting any new arrivals,” she apologizes awkwardly, scratching the back of her head, although tidiness was the last thing on your mind right now. “I will admit, you’re our very first slave around here. How exciting! I’m usually the chef around here, but I guess you’ll take my place in the kitchen from now on.”

You stared blankly at her, not expecting her to be acting so casually. “I-I don’t really know how to cook anything…” you almost whisper, afraid of making her angry.

“Oh don’t you worry your adorable little self!” she giggles. “I’ll teach you everything you need to know! It’s nothing extravagant!”

You stare at her, incredulously. You had heard of the animals doing terrible, disgusting things to their slaves. You had never expected to just be doing manual labor. “O-okay. I guess that doesn’t sound so bad…” you stutter.

“No hold on now! That’s just the work you’re going to be doing for me. I imagine the other gals around here will have very different jobs in mind for ya,” she says with a laugh. You shudder. It was just as you had feared; you didn’t just have one ‘master’, you’re going to be a plaything for the entire zoo. “But nevermind that now. You should get settled in.” Before you could say anything, she gently takes you hand and leads you down the winding, messy corridors of the immense building. Eventually, she shepherded you into an abandoned office, which had apparently been turned into a makeshift bedroom.

“Ol' Suberiwa set up this room for herself long ago, but she had to be… evicted,” the gazelle explains cryptically. “So… I guess it’s your’s now! You must be tuckered out after travelling so far, poor little thing. You should get some rest.” You stepped into the room hesitantly, at her behest. The bed didn’t look quite as good as your old one, but it definitely looked more comfortable than any of the other places you’ve slept in recently. You even had a beautiful view of the savannah through the windows. “By the time you’re up, I'll have dinner ready, and we can introduce you to the rest of the girls. Such a big day!” She immediately left you to your bearings, trotting down the hallway in an excited haze. You listened to her hoof steps slowly disappear down the hallway… and, once you were sure she was gone, collapsed on the dirty old bed, exhausted.

You stare at the ceiling, taking the alone time to think. You could probably take this opportunity to sneak out, but… to be honest, searching for the queen had become quite exhausting, and you’ve felt so lonely all these months. Something about the gazelle lady just seemed so… motherly and comforting. Maybe these animals weren’t all that bad...

You have the following choices:

*Pen*
1. Just get some rest

*Pen*
2. Try to sneak out while you still can

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
