The day had arrived. Josh was going back to the third grade. He was going to help his little sister's friend. Helping his little sister is what a big brother was supposed to do. Due to the swapped he had made with Bri he was ready to go. The school thought he was a student just like Bri had been. All of Bri's friends were now his friends. He knew the appropriate school work so he wouldn't seem out of place that way. But he was over a foot taller than all the students in his class and eight years older. Not withstanding his clothes which were of the fashion of a middle school girl (skinny jeans, a grey t-shirt with a scooped neck that would show the top of his breasts if he had any, matching grey canvas sneakers and a purplish red zip up hoodie ) than third grade and everyone else he was just anothyer student at school and was treated that way.
The bullies wouldn't mess with him, he was taller and stronger than they were. He was going to use that to help Jenna. But when he talked to Jenna she wasn't as enthusiastic as he had hoped.
"Jenna," he said getting serious after a greeting. "I am going to talk to those boys and make sure they will never bother you again."
"You mean you are going to threaten them?"
"Yes. I'll tell them if you mess around with you, then you are messing around with me."
"That won't work?"
"Why not?"
"Because you can't be around forever. What do I do if I'm alone and they threaten me?"
"You tell them that I will beat them up."
"I don't know if that'll work. What if they don't back down."
"They will."
"But I'm still scared."
"What do you want me to do?"
"I don't know. I wish I was as strong as you, then they will leave me alone."
Josh didn't think like a teen anymore. He swapped that away by accident so that Bri could cope in high school. Josh wasn't as sure of himself as he had been. Also he now had a true friendship with Jenna. He didn't want to see her hurt, not because she was Bri's friend, but because she was his friend now. "I have an idea," he told Jenna. Josh then went to explain about what happened with the old lady and that he has this new swapping power. He said that he had tested it and it worked, but he didn't tell her who he tested it with nor that she was seeing the changes right in front of her. As a third grader he liked to show off. His maturity had dropped to fit his circumstances. He wanted to prove himself to his friends.
"Wow that is really really cool. But how will that help me?"
"We can swap strength and then when they come around to bother you you can beat them up. It they know how strong you are then they won't bother you."
"Hey yeah. That'll work. OK let's swap."
"Not so fast. This will only be for today. Once they know how strong you are they won't bother you any more. We'll swap back tomorrow when all this is done."
Jenna hugged her friend Josh and said gratefully, "Yeah we'll swap back tomorrow."
