"Maybe they chased the shadow off," Yukari suggested. "I wouldn't surprised if they made a bet on who would defeat the big one."
"Let's just hope they return soon," Mitsuru said, leading the group down the stairs. "I want everyone to survey the building and look for breaches. We still don't know how the shadows got in."
"Will do," Aigis responded.
The group of guys on the floor watched as the women of SEES made their way down on the stairs. Each one of them were hundreds of times the size of the men. If that wasn't bad enough, they seemed completely oblivious to their shrunken teammates.
Akihiko gritted his teeth. "This is..."
"Amazing!" Junpei finished. "Pinch me, Akihiko-san. I must be dreaming."
"This isn't time to get carried away," Akihiko responded, still staring up at the massive women. "We need to find a way to get their attention."
Ken picked up Koromaru and turned to face MInato. "Got any good ideas, Minato-san?"
"We climb them," the stoic boy answered, unable to think of anything more effective or less dangerous.
"Great idea, Minato!" Junpei cheered. "I got dibs on Mitsuru-senpai!"
Before Junpei could even run off, Shinjiro grabbed him by his jacket's collar. "If you thought with the head on your shoulders instead of the one in your pants, you'd realize how stupid charging at them is."
"Come on," Junpei protested, trying to yank himself from Shinjiro's grip. "You heard it from our leader himself. There's not much else we can do."
"Shinjiro's right, Junpei. We have to think this through." Akihiko crossed his arms. "The last thing we want is for any of us to end up as stains under her boots."
Junpei dropped his shoulders. "Well when you put it like that, it doesn't sound as cool."
"Guys, look." Minato pointed off in the distance, where Yukari had begun walking towards them at an impossibly quick speed.
"Run!" Akihiko yelled, bolting away from her incoming footfalls. The group all made their own attempts to escape, some more successful than the others as Yukari's booming steps knocked them off their feet. The ones who were safe watched in horror as Ken, still carrying Koromaru, and Junpei got trapped under the giantess' loafers.
The group lay in silence, all not wanting to see the smears of what used to be their friends. It wasn't until they heard barking and Junpei call "We're good!" that they felt that they could breathe again. Even then, it was a painful reminder how dangerous the situation was.
Yukari Takeba made her way to the couch in the lounge but swore under her breath as she noticed the broken remains. After chasing down shadows, she just felt exhausted and needed to lay down. Despite the Dark Hour being physically taxing for everyone, she felt it had singled her out especially. Ignoring Mitsuru's annoyed glare, she closed her eyes and sat down on one of the unharmed chairs. If Fuuka deemed it safe, then it was safe. She can rest for a few minutes if she wanted to. Besides, Aigis had it covered with her bionic robot eyes or whatever. She was still unfamiliar with Aigis' features.
Akihiko was the first to get up and check on the three that had nearly been crushed.
"You're right, Akihiko-san," Junpei wheezed. "Not a good idea to get close."
"How the hell are you guys alive?" Shinjiro asked, running up to the group.
"We got lucky," Ken answered, sitting up. "We managed to duck between the treads."
"We didn't even get to see up her skirt," Junpei added with a sigh as Akihiko helped him up.
After they regrouped, the shrunken SEES members hid underneath the coffee table.
"So what now?" Shinjiro asked, leaning against the leg of the table. "It's been a while, and it hasn't worn off yet."
"Climbing Yuka-tan is still an option," Junpei suggested. "She looks like she's staying still."
"I don't know," Ken commented, grim-faced. "I don't want to go anywhere near her shoes for a while."
Akihiko sighed, racking his brain for another plan. "What about Aigis? She's got this fixation with Minato. Maybe it'll be easier for her to see us."
"Her robo-vision can zoom in on us!" Junpei added.
"It's still the Dark Hour, right?" Ken asked. "We could climb up high and use our personas. They'd have to notice if we just start using our skills."
"That could work," Shinjiro said.
Akihiko put his hands on Minato's shoulder. "It's your call."
Minato scratched at his hair. Each of these plans had their positives, but the first two were a little dangerous. Climbing Yukari was risking getting thrown off at the slightest bit of moment, and stepping out and going after Aigis was just asking to be stepped on by one of the girls' wandering footfalls. The last one seemed the safest but it relied on them getting to high ground before the Dark Hour ended, and that was a gamble.
"Well..." Minato started. "..." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
