This choice: Chie unawarely snatches Yosuke up with a piece of meat.  •  Go Back...
Chapter #6

Carnivored

Yosuke tried his best to push his way out from his beefy prison. It seemed that every piece of meat had tried to keep him buried under it. For once, he believed that bowl was in fact bottom list. In the distance, he could barely make out the sounds of Chie eating.

“You can do it,” the booming voice said. “J-just pace yourself.”

“Chie!” Yosuke yelled. “Help!”

His voice never registered. He decided to keep climbing but found it increasingly difficult as the combination of grease and sauce made it near impossible for him to make an escape.

For some reason, Yosuke thought to the first time he watched Chie scarf down an entire steak croquette. He was in a combination of awe and disgust, much like how he was feeling now. But now, there was a peppering of terror and adrenaline added to the mix.7

The shrunken boy continued to squirm as he tried to fight his way out. Unfortunately, he could not even tell which was was down. For all he knew, he was nestling himself deeper in to the bowl of food, delaying his fate.

Any chance of getting found seemed to dwindle by the second as Chie upped her pace. Yosuke came to a grim realization that The white pellets he saw, some of which were bigger than him, were nothing more than grains of rice. It would take a miracle for him to get noticed.

Light slowly entered the deep recesses of the bowl of food. Chie was getting closer to finishing the bowl.

A massive column of wood descended upon Yosuke, nearly crushing him against the bottom of the bowl. Luckily, he managed to dive away. However, it did little to improve his moral as he watched a mountain sized clump of rice and beef rise up into the air. His heart raced as he knew it was only a matter of time before Chie scooped him up.

That time came faster than he thought as more and more of the structures of food had disappeared into the air. Eventually, Yosuke was out in the open, staring up at the massive face of his friend and teammate. Here eyes were dull She clearly wasn’t enjoying her meal any more and was eating out of necessity. Her mouth hung slightly open, giving the shrunken boy a glimpse of his fate. Her lips were stained with sauce, something Yosuke would have found cute if he wasn’t worried about being eaten.

Chie looked down at the nearly empty bowl. She was absolutely stuffed. And while she could never truly give up her first love, Aiya’s rainy day beef bowl challenge was making her consider dropping meat from her diet for a few days.

“Almost there!” the chef encouraged, a wide, proud smile on his face. “You can do it.”

Chie nodded, half out of it. “I can do it,” she repeated. She wiped the sauce from her lips, not caring about the stains on her sleeve.

Yosuke watched in horror as Chie’s chopsticks came towards him. She was looking right through him and all his yelling and jumping had worn him down. A sense of weightlessness came over him as the very ground beneath him had been lifted into the air and was quickly making his way towards Chie’s mouth. Strands of saliva hung from the roof of her mouth. Chunks of beef had been embedded between the small gaps in her teeth. Chie’s tongue had spilled out on her bottom lip as she anticipated her last bite.

“Chie! Please! You have to notice me!”

She didn’t, and Yosuke made a last ditch effort to keep himself alive. The shrunken boy went into free fall as he jumped from the pile of food.He closed his eyes as the porcelain bowl approached at a rapid pace.

A jolt of pain shot up in Yosuke’s leg as he landed. From the way it bent, Yosuke rightly assumed that the fall had snapped it in half. He stared up at his massive friend, hoping he bought himself enough time to get spotted. Things were looking better as Chie was staring directly into the bowl.

“There…” Chie gasped, in between deep breaths. “I did it.”

Yosuke sighed, relieved that Chie was done eating.

Aiya chuckled, inspecting the bowl from behind the counter. “Almost there, Missy. The bowl needs to be clean.”

Chie groaned but nodded. She slowly lifted up the bowl and brought it to her face.

“No! No NO! CHIE! STOP! DON'T EAT ME!"

Yosuke’s cries went unheard as the massive landscape that was Chie’s tongue came into view. He tried to crawl away, but like his previous attempts to stay alive, it was useless.

Chie’s tongue steamrolled over him, dragging him along as she collected the last few pieces of rice.

The shrunken boy screamed as the massive pink monster retreated back into the cavern. Hot air hit him as he could only take in air that reeked of beef and Chie’s breath. He was coated in his friend’s spit as he writhed in place.

Then Chie’s mouth closed, sealing him in the darkness.

Gravity took over as Chie tilted her head to swallow the last few pieces of food.

***

“Done!” Chie announced, hanging her head low and presenting the bowl to the owner of the restaurant.

“You did it!” Aiya said. “Your meal’s on the house.”

Chie nodded slowly. “Mhmm,” she hummed, slowly getting up from the stool. She rubbed her bulging stomach, resolving to never attempt the challenge again. She made her way out the restaurant.

I’m gonna kill Yosuke the next time I see him, she thought.

Inside her stomach, Yosuke slammed his shoulder against the wall’s of Chie’s belly. “Come on, Chie! Help! Please!”

He knew it was all useless the moment the gurgling in Chie’s stomach overpowered his voice.
