This choice: Minato wakes to find he’s grown to normal size. Turns out Minako grew as well. • Go Back... Minato slowly opened his eyes the next morning and stared up at the ceiling. He vaguely remembered a dream he had last night. Apparently, Minako took him to the Velvet Room? And struck some kind of deal with Elizabeth and Theodore?
He sighed. Today was Sunday, and he was planning to hang out with Yukari today. He needed to wake Minako so she could take him to her. He rolled over, preparing for the normal routine of walking from his pillow to Minako's and climbing to her ear to wake her...
...only to fall from the bed to the floor in a tangle of sheets and blankets.
Now fully awake, Minato scrambled to his feet, looking around the unfamiliar room in what was coming dangerously close to panic.
"Wh-what the hell?!"
He looked back at his bed. It was scaled down to his size. For that matter, so was everything else in the room.
"Did... did Minako get a dollhouse for me?" He frowned. Ever since they were children, he'd repeatedly told his sister since that he didn't want to live in a dollhouse. He found the very idea of it humiliating. That said, he had to admit as he took in the unfamiliar room that this was very well made. There was an exact replica of his sister's desk with a laptop on it. He experimentally moved the mouse, jarring the computer out of sleep mode. The login screen for Innocent Sin Online was displayed.
Minato was now begrudgingly impressed. While he was able to play some online games by walking on the keyboard, the Kirijo Group's attempts to create a usable computer at his size had been rudimentary at best so far. Having a fully functional laptop small enough for him to use was somewhat incredible.
Moving on, he checked the closet. There were several sets of clothes his size, including a significantly improved version of his school uniform with no visible stitching.
"Did she have Bebe do this? I hope it wasn't too much trouble for him."
He was startled from his thoughts by a knock on the door. Or, more likely, someone tapping on it. Probably Minako.
Content that he'd at least get some answers, Minato opened the door... only to look Yukari directly in the eyes.
"Hey, Minato," Yukari waved to her slightly taller friend. "You ready to go?"
Minato's brain stalled out as he stared at her, having no idea how to process the sight of Yukari- or any of his friends, for that matter- NOT towering over him.
"Minato-kun?" Yukari tilted her head in concern. "Come on, the movie's going to start soon. We don't want to be late."
Minato blinked. Not only were he and Yukari the same relative size, but for some reason, Yukari didn't see this as unusual in the slightest. He needed to get to the bottom of this.
"Yukari? Where's Minako?"
"Minako-chan? She should be in the hangar. I don't think Mitsuru or Akihiko-senpai were planning to take her outside today. Want to go see her before we go?"
"Take her outside?"
"Well... yeah," Yukari shrugged her shoulders. "I mean, it sucks that she has to stay cooped up on the weekends, and I think Mitsuru-senpai could be nicer about it, but I do get that we don't want to cause a panic. It's why we moved from the dorms to the military base in the first place. Are you okay, Minato? You seem kind of out of it."
Minato brushed past Yukari into the hallway. While his perspective made the dorm look far different to him than everyone else, he was still confident that this wasn't the dorm. While enough things were moved from the dorm to make it feel somewhat familiar, the whole building felt more sterile and industrial than before. He eventually made his way outside, recognizing the military complex where S.E.E.S. first encountered Strega in.
"Senpai!" his sister's voice boomed from a hangar several yards away. "Cut that out!"
Instinctive brotherly protectiveness taking over, Minato took off towards the hangar at a dead run, a confused Yukari barely keeping up behind him. As he entered, he found Minako- just as big compared to him as she always was- sitting as still as she could as Akihiko climbed up her school uniform's jacket.
"Seriously!" Minako giggled. "That tickles!" She fidgeted, causing Akihiko to lose his footing and fall unceremoniously into her lap.
Minato's brain short-circuited for the second time that day as Yukari walked in behind him and took in the sight with less shock and more resignation.
"Minako-chan? Akihiko-senpai? What did we just walk in on?"
"Endurance training!" Minako chirped. "Gotta do SOMETHING while I'm stuck in here..." she trailed off as she noticed Minato for the first time. "Hey bro!"
"Don't tell Mitsuru," Akihiko ordered his underclassmen, blushing slightly as he scrambled out of Minako's lap.
Minato frowned as parts of his dream from last night started to come back to him.
“Ah, Minako-chan, to what do I owe this late night visit?”
“Y-you said you could make my brother normal size, right?”
“Yes, I also said that it would require great sacrifice.”
“Whatever it is, I’m ready for it. Anything.”
"Yukari, Akihiko-senpai, can I talk to Minako in private for a minute?"
Yukari frowned. "Come on, Minato-kun, your sister's a big girl. What she does on the weekend is her..."
"That's fifty yen for the pun jar, Yukari-chan!"
"That wasn't even on purpose!" Yukari snapped even as she walked to a jar in the corner and put some coins in. "And I'm trying to stick up for you!"
"It's fine, Yukari. Mi-kun and I will just be a minute, and then you can go on your date."
"It's not a... ugh..." Refusing to be baited by her giant best friend again, Yukari followed Akihiko out, leaving the size-mismatched siblings alone.
"So are you gonna ask her out today?" Minako asked her brother excitedly. "She's totally into you, you know. And I've been shipping the two of you since this summer!"
"Minako?" Minato asked gravely. "What did you do?"   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
