This choice: It's a School day, he'll need to plan his escape route carefully. • Go Back...Chapter #13Two Plans, One Goal. by: Unknown "That's right, tomorrow's Friday." Akira muttered to himself. "I'll have to wait until she's not looking, and then......" What was he going to do? Sure, he could hide out in the school, but most of the
students and Faculty either hated him or didn't care for him. Outside of the Phantom Thieves, there was maybe 4 or 5 people he trusted in any capacity.
"Kawakami would be the hardest to get to, but she's probably the person I'm safest with outside of the group..... although, she might be a little too overprotective and coddling." He tried to think of anyone else he could meet up with that aren't Phantom Thieves.
"Maruki would be a good choice, but if Kasumi visits him before I can make contact, I could get discovered..." Akira discarded the idea. Maruki was also popular with Shujin's female students, and while he didn't fully believe Kasumi's assertion that other girls would treat him like a toy if they found him, he wasn't about to put his faith in some random teenager.
"There also Mishima, but he's, well........Mishima." He liked the guy, but he wasn't exactly the most reliable person in the world.
"The only other people I'm on decent terms with are the girl that runs the library, and the one that runs the school newspaper, and even then, we're on just okay terms, so putting my trust in them might not be the best idea." Akira sighed in frustration, as much as he wanted to escape, the chances of him getting either killed or captured by another student were high.
"Maybe I really am safer with her, no one knows what happened to me, and when Sojiro doesn't find me tomorrow, he'll have to report it....... " Akira felt tears starting to form in his eyes, as much as he hated to admit it, his friends weren't going to be there for him this time, and when he get reported missing, the police will probably start looking for him since he would have supposedly violated his parole. His life was essentially over, even if he got back to full size.
Unbeknownst to him, his friends knew full well what happened to him, and were currently devising a plan to save him from Kasumi........
---------------------------------
Futaba: We're all familiar with the strategy for tomorrow, right?
Ann: I'll tell Kawakami-sensei that Akira-kun is really bad sick and won't be at school for a few days.
Makoto: Then I'll call Yoshizawa to the Student Council room around lunch, and confront her with the video footage and recording.
Ryuji: And the rest of us will show up too keep her from running.
Yusuke: I am frustrated at my lack of usefulness for this operation.
Ryuji: Honestly, this whole situation is pretty frustrating, Akiras going to be stuck with some psycho stalker for the whole night, and a decent part of tomorrow, and there isn't a damn thing we can do about it!
Haru: I understand how you feel Ryuji-kun, but getting angry isn't going to help anything.
Makoto: I'm just relieved that we were able to get Sojiro-san in on the plan. This would be much harder if he reported that Akira-kun was missing.
Makoto sent the final message before setting her phone down. While she was trying to keep calm as the defacto leader of the group when Akira wasn't available, internally she was panicking hard. Akira was a close friend, and someone she respected and cared about very much. Him being in such a dangerous situation was causing her to feel a whirlpool of emotions, including her aforementioned panic, anger at Yoshizawa for kidnapping Akira, worry for his safety, and..... jealousy?
"Dammit Makoto, you need to put your feelings away for this!" She chastised herself. The real reason she had wanted to talk to Akira earlier that day was so that she could tell him how she felt. But now that he was in more danger than he had ever been in, Makoto knew that she needed to prioritize his safety above all else.
So why was she so jealous of Yoshizawa?
"This is no time to be think about how small, helpless, and cute....." She shook her head as she laid back down, despite her usual seriousness, Makoto actually had quite an affinity for cute things, and what could be cuter than her crush at three inches tall?
"No, I need to stay serious, Akira-kun needs my, OUR, help. She laid there on her bed for a while, trying to push the thoughts of having a tiny Akira out of her mind, when a sudden weight was put on top of her, making her jump and knocking a certain (not) cat onto the floor.
"Huh!? Oh, sorry Morgana, I forgot you were there." She looked down at the faux feline, who was looking back at her with slight resentment.
"How did you forget!? We went through hell trying to sneak me past your sister!" Morgana exclaimed. Makoto had decided to keep Morgana with her for the night, and was planning on releasing him into Shujin when she got there in the morning so he could try and find Akira if he managed to escape his stalker.
"Sorry, I'm just....." Makoto started, but couldn't continue. How could she admit that she wanted to do almost exactly what Yoshizawa was doing?
"You're worried about him, aren't you?" Morgana asked as he jumped back onto the bed.
"Yeah, I really am. For all we know, Yoshizawa could've done ANYTHING to him by now, and he's just so small and helpless, even if we get him back, he'd still be in danger." Makoto gripped her arm, thoughts of Yoshizawa doing several inappropriate things to Akira flooding her mind. Things that Makoto couldn't help but think about doing herself. "I should've ran after her, I should've tried to stop her from getting away."
"You had no idea she had Akira with her. Even still, she probably wouldn't have given him up without a fight, and that would've put him in danger." Morgana reasoned.
"I guess you're right, but there's something else that's bothering me....." Makoto again started, but a knot in her throat kept her from continuing.
"You love him, don't you?" Morgana asked, making the younger Niijima turn a deep shade of red.
"I keep forgetting how observant you can be, Morgana...... Yes, I love him, I really do." Makoto smiled, finally telling someone how she truly felt about her leader was a very relieving experience. That smile faded, however, after she remembered the guilt she felt over her fantasies. "But, what's really bothering me, is if I was in her position, would I be able to resist the urge to keep him for myself?" Makoto felt a tear go down her cheek, her fear of potentially hurting Akira bringing her to tears.
Morgana didn't say anything at first, but eventually, he walked over to the now crying Makoto, and began rubbing up against her, like most cats, (which he definitely wasn't), would.
"Hey, don't cry, The fact that you don't want to hurt him means that you're strong enough to resist that urge." He comforted her. "Besides, Akira trusts you, he trusts you more than anyone else. In my book, that means something." Makoto wiped the tears from her eyes, and hugged Morgana, something he normally hated, but he would tolerate just this once.
"Thanks, Mona. I'm just so scared that I'll betray that trust, and either hurt him, or make him hate me....." Makoto said.
"You won't hurt him. You're the most responsible member of the Phantom Thieves, and you're mature enough to make the right call." Morgana again comforted his temporary caretaker.
"I hope you're right, and I really hope we can save him tomorrow....." Makoto let the (not) cat go, and laid back down. Morgana curled up next to her.
"Don't worry, Akira's a very resourceful guy, if our plan fails, than I can almost guarantee you he'll find a way out." The faux feline yawned, before the two of them drifted off to sleep...... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
