Cathy is sitting at a small table in the shade with her best friend Karen, older sister Donna, her coworker Halley Jones, and Jessie Belies who was a friend of Donna’s daughter Rachel and sometimes babysat Shannon and Sarah for Cathy when she had to work late or Scott and Kelly were busy with other teenager things.
Cathy and Donna watched their children play in the pool and talked about a variety of things, including Karen’s new found enjoyment of dance clubs, and Donna’s new social life since she got her hair died almost a red as Karen’s and her breasts enlarged. Cathy joked that if Donna wasn’t careful she might turn out like their younger sister Megan. Both women laughed. Jessie talked about her new boy friend and all the older women thought back to when they were young and dating, oh if only to dream.
While all this chit chat is going on up above, down below Scott is not have any fun at all. The giant foot had shifted and now ever few seconds the big toe would slam down on him and grind him into the sole. He couldn’t breath and when he tried to block it with his arms they were smashed down and nearly shattered by the shear force of the massive wall of cotton and flesh. What did his mom think he was some pebble or something in her shoe? He was bruised and battered and his mind was trying to get his body to get out of the way but there just wasn’t any time. WAMB…WAMB…WAMB again and again.
Cathy felt the small tear in her insole and tried repeatedly to place it back into place with her big toe but for some odd reason it just wouldn’t fit back in. As she and Karen talked about how they should go out on a girls night out perhaps pick up some studs at a bar, just joking of course she started pivoting her entire foot onto the front of the sole and try to smash the torn material back into place. She never in a million years would have guessed she was trying to grind her beloved eldest child into the sole of her foot.
