This choice: Tiny Troubles with Patty Spivot • Go Back...Chapter #3Tiny Troubles with Patty Spivot by: Haro-Haze It was a classic team-up between heroes, Team Flash and Team Arrow coming together once again to stop a rouge Metahuman that had recently made his way through the newly named Star City.
Team Arrow had grown to be a group of 4 members, Oliver Queen, John Diggle, and of course, Felicity Smoak, who was assisting the two teams over comms from Star Labs. Thea Queen was left to defend Star City by herself for the day.
Team Flash was still small, however, relying solely on Barry to do most of the hard work, joined in the field by Cisco Ramon, Joe west, and the Harrison Wells of Earth-2 joining the fray. Back at Star Labs, Iris West and Caitlin Snow also assisted over comms, providing background information, and creating a strategy for the two teams.
In the middle of an encounter with the villain, Oliver and his team were pinned down behind an upside-down car. With everyone besides Barry from Team Flash taking cover behind the Star Labs van, the speedster running interference to draw the Metahuman's fire.
"Barry talk to me, what's his power?" Caitlin asked over comms, while Barry continued to run circles around the mysterious Meta. White beams flowed out of his fists, hitting stop signs, street lamps, trees, and a mailbox. All of which seemed to disappear in the blink of an eye.
"He seems to be destroying things at a molecular level, everything he zaps is disappearing entirely," Barry answers, slowing down and speeding up to better control his opponent's aim and stop him from hitting anything more vital like buildings or his teammates.
"Barry, that's impossible, you can't destroy matter. Only change it somehow, or move it from place to place. He has to be doing one or the other." Caitlin responded, prompting Cisco and Joe to prepare The Boot, charging the device for the takedown.
Unable to hit Barry, the Meta turned his attention to Barry's team, shooting two beams from his forearms at the overturned car and Van, making both disappear instantly, leaving both groups without cover. "Say goodbye to your friends, Flash!" he yelled, thrusting both arms forward.
Oliver drew his bow and fired an explosive arrow between the two beams at the Meta's feet, noticing something on the ground where the car had been out the corner of his eye, it looked like a Hot Wheels version of the car he was just hiding behind. That's when it hit him, looking back up to see Barry racing towards them, trying to use his own body as a shield.
"Barry, wait!" Oliver yelled, discovering the Meta's ability too late as the widespread beam passed through them all, his explosive arrow going off a second later. *boom* the Meta flew back out of sight and both Team Flash, and Team Arrow were affected by the Metahuman's power.
Cisco felt up and down his body, oh thank god. I'm alive, I mean we're alive. Focused on only himself and the others. However, some were already starting to see the bigger picture after coming to the same conclusion Oliver came to earlier. They'd been shrunk!
"Guys, what's going on out there? We're reading some weird telemetry back from Barry's suit, is everyone okay?" Iris asked, jumping in front of Caitlin to check-in on everyone including Barry and her dad. Everyone else still reeling after being shrunk down was surprised to discover that all of their equipment still worked just fine.
"Oh hey Iris, thanks for asking. We're all pretty much okay over here, no physical injuries at least, but there is one problem. We're all half an inch tall!" Cisco yelled sarcastically into the mic, causing reverberations and feedback.
"Seriously?" Caitlin asked, amazed by the scientific element of reducing matter to such a tiny size. Not to mention, working on live subjects without any complications.
"So Barry and Oliver are..." Iris started, unsure of how to put the term delicately.
"... the size of Tic Tacs!" Felicity finished, bluntly saying what all the girls were thinking.
"Not helping!" Cisco responded, not wanting to be compared to the tiny mint at his current size. The thought of being tossed around in Caitlin's mouth like a snack, or being sat on by Iris and Felicity sending a shiver down his spine.
"You're right, sorry. Where are you guys? I'll come by and pick you up, literally I guess. Can you see the Star Labs van? There's a tracking device inside, if you get in and drive somewhere safe, I should be able to find you pretty easily." Caitlin announced, grabbing her jacket and purse.
"Yes, I can see the Van, it's right..." Cisco paused a rhythmic earthquake shook the ground, they weren't very powerful. But were strong enough to be felt at their tiny size. "Caitlin, are you guys reading any earthquakes?" Cisco asked.
"No, all sectors appear to be free of all seismic activity. Why?" Caitlin asked, curious as to why Cisco would ask so suddenly about something seemingly unrelated to their current predicament.
"Oh, cause I'm pretty sure one is heading straight towards us!" Cisco said, panicking.
"I think those are footsteps, quick everyone get to the van!" Diggle said, putting his years as a private bodyguard to use as he leads everyone in an orderly fashion, thinking that the Meta from earlier was coming back to finish the job.
But just as everyone got within a few feet of the Van a brown boot came down, and quickly transformed their vehicle into a piece of scrap metal that was as flat as a pancake. But what was more surprising to the group was the boot's owner, following the massive pillar up to the face of a young blonde-haired woman in a police uniform.
"Hello, this is officer Patty Spivot with the Anti-Metahuman Task Force. Joe, do you read me?" Patty said into her radio, causing everyone to turn towards Joe.
"Did you call her here, just jut crushed our ride? I loved that van." Cisco asked the tiny group standing frozen as Patty surveyed the overhead, only one more step away from possibly having 6 tiny bloodstains on the bottoms of her boots.
"No, I don't know how she got here so fast, she always seems to do this somehow," Joe responded, taking the radio off his belt, wondering if they should try to contact her or risk fleeing while she investigates.
"Guys Joe is right, she would have found this crime scene one way or the other, but right now we need help and Caitlin's over a 20-minute drive away. We can trust her, she's my girlfriend." Barry said, the news coming to a shock to Oliver and Diggle that Barry was dating this giant woman, though they doubted she would be very tall at all standing at their normal height.
"Call her," Oliver said, willing to risk her finding out his secret identity if Barry trusted her.
"Officer Spivot, come in. Maintain position and look down on the ground in front of your feet." Joe said over the radio, causing a confused Patty to look down at what appeared to be a group of little bugs.
"Is this a prank Joe? Why are you telling me to look at these insects when there's a crime scene all around me?" Patty asked, leaning down to see that the bugs were acting kinda funny.
"Insects? Do we look like insects to you?" Cisco asked, grabbing the radio to talk to Patty. Her face conforming to shock as the realization dawned on her, bending down closer to see that each 'bug' as she referred to them as earlier actually had a human body, they were just miniaturized.
Patty laughed nervously and responded to Cisco's hypothetical question with an honest answer "I mean, kinda. You can't blame me when you're all so tiny." defending herself. "I suppose the Metahuman that was here did this to you guys, they must have the power to condense matter into a single point, drawing in all your body mass to make you shrink. The only question is how we can reverse this?" Patty asked, inserting herself into Team Flash's business.
"Wait, we can handle this ourselves. We have friends that can help us return to normal, we just need to get to them first." Barry said, still hiding his secret identity for now, not that Patty would be able to see his face while she was still towering over them.
"And how do you plan on getting back to them without my help? Either let me help throughout the whole process, or you can find your way home yourselves." Patty announced, stating a rather bold stance on the problem at hand. Not giving them much of a choice in the matter when considering their other options.
"Caitlin, stay put, we've got a new ride home," Barry said over comms. "Okay officer Spivot, you win. But first, we need you to take us back to our friends, you can work with them to restore us to our normal size." Barry continued, speaking over the radio to Patty, discussing his voice by vibrating his throat muscles. Still, there was something oddly familiar about it that the giant police officer couldn't quite put her finger on, but she did already have her suspicions that it was someone she knew.
"Okay, so where are we going?" Asked Patty, thinking of a way to carry six inch tall people back to her squad car around the corner without raising suspicion from anyone that saw her. Pulling out an evidence collection bag from her chest pocket.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," Diggle said, not liking the idea of being carried around like trail mix in the giant blonde's breast pocket.
"Okay everyone, get in." Patty smiled awkwardly, bending down and opening the bag in front of them, using her free hand to herd them inside one by one before sealing it mostly shut, leaving a small opening for air, but closing it enough so that they couldn't get out.
"Take us to Star Labs," Joe said as Patty lifted the bag to her face, looking at the tiny people inside before smiling at the tiny Flash, certain that she knew who was inside the red spandex suit. Folding the back once over itself and placing them inside of her left chest pocket for transport... | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
