"Ah, where am I?" Barry asked as he came around after being mysteriously knocked unconscious. His vision was still blurry, and he couldn't make out much past his fingertips. His skull rocked by a severe headache as he tried to remember the last thing that happened before he passed out.
He was in the Speed Lab, running laps as he tried to think of new ways he could tackle the Cicada crisis without endangering Nora's future. He was waiting there to teach his future daughter some new tricks to maximize her speed when he felt a sharp pain at the base of his spine. Then, everything went black.
Fast forward, Barry looked around the room to see that he was still in the Speed Lab, but for some odd reason, it didn't look right. The ceiling was way too high, and the walls were so far apart. Could this distortion be the effect of some new Meta-tech? No, the answer was simple. Barry had shrunk, somehow landing on the desk off to the side of the room.
"Why am I this small? What am I doing up here? Who could have done this?" Barry asked. Unfortunately, he wouldn't have to wait long for answers as a rising shadow stretched out across the table. He quickly spun around to meet the enormous gaze of two crossed Hazel eyes, locked on his tiny form.
Overwrought with terror, Barry attempted to stand and run to safety at super-speed, but it was no use. One minute, he was getting up, and the next, he was flat on his face. "My speed, it's gone!" Barry panicked, trying to vibrate his hand.
"Hehe, that was a cute try Dad," Boomed a familiar voice as Barry turned back to the pair of Hazel eyes that startled him. Looking at the giantess version of his daughter Nora from the future at a distance, Barry's heart sank as he noticed her playful smile.
"Nora, you're responsible for all this?" Barry asked, confused as to why Nora would want him to be so tiny. Without his speed, no less. She paused for a moment, rising over the table to reveal her full-height. Towering over the table that barely reached her hips, proving herself to be much taller than Barry had anticipated.
"Don't panic, I promise you'll be safe at this size for the next six months. Nobody is going to hurt you!" Nora said reassuringly.
"Six Months‽" Barry asked, alarmed at the idea of being so small for a day, let alone half a year.
"Just until this whole mess with Cicada blows over," Nora announced, trying to put Barry at ease. But that still didn't take any of the stress out of being the size of a gummy bear.
"There's no way that everyone will be okay with this!" Barry yelled, attempting to scold Nora, which proved impossible when her socks probably weighed more than him.
"Yeah, about that. The others don't know about this. I told them you were going to help Aunt Kara out on her Earth for a while. Don't worry. I'm capable of being The Flash in your absence. XS has got this!" She smiled, confident in her Speedster abilities.
"You can't just expect me to sit back and relax from the comfort of a dollhouse for the next six months!" Barry yelled, knowing Nora had some plans for him.
"Sorry, Dad. That's way too risky. I can't let you escape and find your way to Mom or Aunt Frost." Nora argued, realizing she'd have to keep Barry's tiny form hidden.
"Wait, so where were you planning to keep me?" Barry asked, knowing he would be terrified of the answer Nora would give.
"Well..." Nora nervously paused, leaning over and pulling her boot right off her foot, holding it at chest level so Barry could see his new home. "...I was thinking. You could live in here for a few days until I find you a more permanent home." Nora carried on, turning back to see that Barry was running away from her. At least, he was trying.
Without his speed, Barry was moving at a snail's pace. Although to someone with Nora's abilities, he might as well have not been moving at all. Quicker than he could blink, Nora reached down at lightning speed, grabbing Barry by his leg and hoisting him up to her face, dangling him upside down as her eyes examined him from head to toe.
"Nora, you can't do this!" Barry objected, realizing he was powerless against his time-traveling daughter. Unfortunately, she could and planned to keep Barry a secret for as long as possible.
"Sorry, Dad, but I don't have a choice." Nora pouted, placing her boot down on the floor and pulling out a remote control from her back pocket.
"In the future, we use this device to stick small objects together. It creates a small gravitational field that breaks when someone pulls on the target. But in your case, it should stick you to anything I want indefinitely." Nora announced, pressing a few buttons while pointing the remote at her shrunken dad.
After a blinding flash of light, Barry could feel his body become heavier as if the effects of gravity had multiplied. "I guess this is goodbye. I mean, you aren't going anywhere, but I doubt you'll be able to see my face from beneath my toes." Nora teased, positioning Barry over the entrance of her boot.
Finally, she let Barry go, casting him into the dark abyss of her boot. He rolled out onto her insole, marred by a detailed imprint of the young Speedster's foot. He came to a stop on his back, craning his neck to lock towards the entrance he came through. Barely able to see Nora through the opening.
"Okay, here comes my foot," Nora announced, giving Barry a moment to mentally prepare himself for the humiliation he was about to endure, lifting her foot over the boot and wiggling her toes.
He couldn't even move a muscle as Nora shoved her socked foot into his new home, blocking out what little light he had to enjoy, forced to watch as her foot's large shadow got closer. The smell of her feet overpowering his other senses.
Nora decided it was best not to hold back. If Barry was going to be living in her boot, then he needed to adapt quickly. He would have to endure the constant strain her insole suffered daily.
*Thump*
Nora covered Barry's body entirely with her foot, pinning his body beneath the sole of her socked foot, giggling a little as she started to walk around the room. Admittedly, he felt pretty nice against her foot, forcing Nora to reconsider making her boot a permanent home for the shrunken Speedster.
"Hehe, you're pretty comfortable under my foot Dad." Nora teased, knowing it wasn't what Barry wanted to hear at that moment. "But, don't think that means I'm going to take it easy on you. Life under my foot might not be fun, but you'll have to get used to it sooner or later." she continued, preparing herself for a run around Central City.
"Nora, please! I am begging you to let me..." Barry yelled as Nora took off, leaving the Speed Lab in a flash. "Whoa, Nora!" Barry screamed, tickling the bottom of Nora's foot with the vibrations of his voice as she rhythmically pounded him into her insole.
She started by running from STAR Labs to the downtown area, focused more on feeling Barry underfoot than her surroundings. In all honesty, it was hard for her to buy shoes and boots that didn't wear out after a week of use, to the point where they were unwearable.
She turned down seventh and ran towards Jitters, spotting Iris waiting on the line with Cisco and Caitlin as she wooshed past. She considered popping in to talk but wasn't ready to lie to them about Barry's whereabouts.
She didn't want to inadvertently blurt-out, "Dad feels so good struggling underneath my sole. You should put him in your shoe sometimes, Mom." or something to that effect.
Instead, she raced by, pivoting on the foot Barry was trapped under, squeezing the liquids from her increasing sweaty socks. Barry only wished he knew it was coming, so he had the time to close his mouth.
That's when Nora decided to race back to Joe and Cecile's home, where she was living during her stay in the past. She moved into Iris's old room, making herself comfortable.
She sprinted into her parent's childhood home, up the stairs, and into her room, taking a seat on the bed to address the bug-sized man in the room.
"That wasn't such a bad run. Was it dad?" Nora asked, kicking her foot up in the air, wiggling her toes in delight. Barry was the best insole she ever had.
"Let's get these boots off so you can enjoy some breathing room." Nora teased, pulling her boot off as she enjoyed the rush of cool fresh air to her toes. Meanwhile, Barry enjoyed a similar sensation inside the boot, still unable to move a muscle but glad to finally be free of Nora's foot.
He breathed heavily, as Nora looked down at him, smiling. He wondered what was going through her mind as she glanced over at her phone then back to Barry. What happens next?
1. We run into the Spencer Young plotline, so Nora gets hypnotized by her phone to try to kill the Flash, resulting in her taking him out of her boot and trying to squish him.
2. Nora decides she doesn't want him to be lonely when she isn't wearing her boot. So she adheres him to the bottom of her sole instead.
3. Nora leaves Barry in her boots in her bedroom to take a shower. Cecile comes in to do laundry and senses Barry's emotions coming from Nora's boot.
