Both of Haydens' eyebrows shot up and her mouth formed an 'o' shape before she asked " You want to be a Henchman for us?"
" Yes I guess?" you say a little confused. ' There was that word again.' you think, ' They couldn't actually mean henchman... could they?"
" Yes we mean an actual henchman Miss Johns. " Hayden answers your unasked question. " Don't worry I am not a mind reader. If you only knew how often I get that question."
" Mrs." Megan corrected. " I'm married." you try to say without seeming snobbish.
" My mistake Mrs. Jones. I apologize." Hayden responds.
" Don't worry about it. " You accept her apology. " I wouldn't be doing anything illegal would I?" you ask even as the thought of it exited you.
" That would depend on how you define illegal." Hayden answers with ambiguity that pointed to ' Yes. What we do is highly illegal' without actually saying it. " Would it bother you if it was?"
The thought of a life of excitement within arms length made you giddy. You tried not to let it show as you answered " Depending on what it was ... no it wouldn't."
" In that case , you should know our henchmen have never been caught and it would be impossible to prosecute them if they were." Hayden adds.
You weren't sure how that can be true, but if what little you heard about FDBSE were true , then it could be possible.
" Are you still interested in the job? Do you know what we do here?" Hayden asked.
" I've heard, " you pause thinking about your answer and decide to just go with the truth, " I have heard, and this is just rumor, that you sell people bodies of anyone they wish to be. That if someone has enough money they can become anybody else. Actress, Socialite, their personal rival, or the soccer mom down the street... and if that is true , yes I want the job."
Hayden looks you over one more time and says " Good. Rumors are all we want anyone to hear. Your hired." with a smile.
" Wait that's it. No interview? " you say astounded.
" That was your interview honey. I am a henchwoman too and I am authorized by the Duchess , whom you will meet later, to hire other henchmen. I will call the R and D leader and have her escort you upstairs. The only question is ... who would you be if you could ?"
You thought for a moment and then say " I want to be..."
