As you recovered from Toadette's excited bouncing hitting you with the force of an earthquake, you saw the princess smile down at Toadette. "That's a great idea Toadette. I'd probably wouldn't have a lot of time to watch or take care of him with royal duties and all, and I don't want to hand him off to some random guard. Who knows how they'd treat the poor little thing in his current condition?" you winced slightly at her referring to you as a 'little thing', but neither of the giant girls took notice. "I'll relieve you of some of your other duties so you could mostly focus on taking care of our little friend here." the princess continued as you almost saw stars in the mushroom girl's eyes; almost like a how a child would look when receiving an awesome, expensive toy on their birthday. She quickly bowed respectfully to her princess repeating "Thank you!" several times, causing Peach to giggle at the display. "I won't let you down. And you either." she said looking back down at you. Though you were glad that she seemed dedicated to keeping you safe, her enthusiasm did worry you a little. "Umm... can't you just give me a mushroom or something to grow back?" you quietly suggested hoping for an easy fix to at least one of your problems. But both girls responded by slowly shaking their heads. "Normal one's wouldn't have too much of an effect on you given your current height. Maybe bump you up to 6 inches at most." Peach said in a calming tone. "And the ones that might be able to get you up to half of MY height wouldn't last more than 10 seconds before you'd shrink back down." Toadette chimed in. You sighed in defeat. It was worth a try you guess. Still it could be worse. Like the princess said, she could have left you with someone she doesn't know too well. At least she trusts Toadette. And she certainly seems... eager to take care of you in the meantime. "Okay then. I guess I'm your new roommate." you said up to the pink mushroom girl holding onto you. "This caused both girls to giggle and one of Toadette's fingers to gently rub you. “You have nothing to worry. Toadette is one of my most trusted friends. You'll be in good hands.” and with that the princess waved to both of you and continued on her stroll down the garden, leaving you with your new guardian.
Looking back up at the (relatively) short girl you saw a huge smile plastered onto her face. She was quite literally struggling to contain her excitement. Though she didn't speak a word for a bit, you could tell by the look that she was mentally going through all the things the two of you could do while she watches over you. “So...” you said in a slightly nervous tone, “any idea how long it would take for them to find a way to fix me?” Toadette shook her head “The princess is a very busy person and the kingdom's resources are needed in a lot of areas. Even if she asked the kingdom's top scientists to work on it, there's no promise that the science would even exist anytime soon. It could take months... even years... if at all.” she looked a little sad, knowing that this news was not very comforting to you, but soon her face brightened up once more back to her cheerful regular self. “But you shouldn't worry too much. Even if they never find a cure for your condition, it's not like you're out there fending for yourself.” you soon felt her finger petting your back and head once again. As demeaning as it might have seemed when you thought about it, you did reluctantly admit that it did feel good. Looking back you noticed Peach was still nearby watching the both of you with a smile before once again walking off. “Guess we better get going too. The other retainers will finish with the garden so I get to take care of setting up your living arrangements. With that, Toadette closed her hands over you to conceal you from any passersby.
You were in darkness for a few minutes before the hands finally opened up once again revealing a beautifully decorated room with white walls and a red carpet. “Pretty cool huh?” her excited voice echoed above you. “Since I do so much for the kingdom, they gave me my own little place in the castle. Well, one of the towers just outside the castle. Still it's close enough to get anything from there and far enough out of the way that no one will bother us.” You only caught part of that as you continued to look around and take in your surroundings and the decorations. Even if this wasn't actually the castle, it was still pretty much a castle compared to anywhere else you've ever been. Toadette clearly had it made, and thanks to you she now had a lot more time to enjoy it since her primary duties now revolved around taking care of you. You looked back up to her, seeing that excitable look in her face that was somewhat unnerving given her size and power over you. Still you were mostly sure that you could trust her.
