For a moment, Shantae looked at you hesitantly, as if pondering the right answer to your question. Then, she shook her head.
When she looked back at you, the yellow gleam was gone from her eyes, her irises having returned to their light blue color.
"Yes, I am!" she said, sounding annoyed. This would have been labeled as suspicious by anyone, but you knew she had a bad temper, so you let it slide.
"Why wouldn't I be alright, anyway?"
"Um..." you said, pointing your finger to Risky, who was laying on the ground next to a damaged wall, unconscious.
Shantae looked surprised.
"Oh... wow," she said, bringing the hand that wasn't currently holding a shrunken person to the back of her head,
"Did I... do that now?"
"Yes," you replied, a bit perplexed,
"It only happened a moment ago."
"I don't remember doing that." Shantae admitted, starting to scratch the back of her head as she looked down at you,
"I remember fighting Risky a moment ago, then suddenly everything went black. I... I lost..."
"Does it look like you lost?" you pointed out.
Again, Shantae glanced at Risky on the floor, before looking back at you and saying,
"Okay,"
After that, she began walking over to her bed, putting Risky aside for a moment.
The half-genie climbed onto her bed and sat with her legs crossed, holding you at chest level, face-to-bosom with her.
You blushed slightly and quickly looked up.
"... Care to explain what's been happening?" the purple-haired giantess continued from where she interrupted, before closing her eyes, focusing. She remained like in a trance for a minute, before giving up and declaring,
"I can't remember anything after my battle with Risky on the ship! How long have I been knocked out?" she asked.
"About an hour," you said, before starting to think.
Apparently, Shantae had no memory of what happened when she was Nega-Shantae. But then, when she knocked out Risky just a moment ago...
You looked at Shantae and gulped, terrified.
Did that mean that Nega-Shantae was still in her? Were Shantae's genie and human halves coexisting in her mind? If that was the case, there was no telling when Nega-Shantae was gonna come out again, and the thought scared you.
The half-genie noticed you looking at her in fear.
"Hey, what's happening?" she asked, before pouting,
"Come on, tell me, what happened? What happened after we fought against Risky? Did I lose? How did we get home? Where are my friends?"
You calmed down, telling yourself that this was the Shantae you knew, and that she was gonna be fine.
"Well... I'll need to go back where it started, on Risky's ship," you began, looking at her in the eye.
The giantess offered a nod and leaned in to listen to you.
"While you and Risky were fighting, she used some weird device and made both you and her go out like a light." you explained,
"Sky and Rottytops brought us here. Sky left, while Rotty offered to stay and wait until you woke up. But that's when things started to go south,"
"Whaddya mean?" the half-genie giantess wondered.
You hesitated, but then steeled yourself and continued,
"I think it's because of the same gun Risky used," you said,
"But you suddenly changed. You became... evil, you were, like, surrounded by darkness."
Shantae's mouth started gaping open.
Had she become an evil genie again? It was terrible!
After a few moments, Shantae found the courage to ask,
"A-And then? What happened, what did I do?"
"You attacked Rottytops," you admitted,
"Then snatched me and got away, only to return here. However, Risky came here as well after about five minutes. You two fought, again."
"And then? Don't stop, keep telling!" Shantae encouraged you, a growing anxiety dwelling within her.
You rubbed the back of your head,
"You and her fought, as I said. Risky Boots managed to get you back to normal with that gun of hers and... that's about all of it. You know the rest."
"Wrong." Shantae replied, frustrated, looking to the fainted pirate queen on her floor,
"I don't know about that."
"Oh. Well... I can't exactly tell, I couldn't see anything," you said, recalling yourself being trapped between Risky's breasts,
"But you went into a rage, I think."
Shantae hesitated, then moved you down to her lap and placed you there, before placing her hands on the sides of her head, almost like she had an headache.
"This is... I can't believe it happened, again..." she murmured, shocked by too many revelations.
Silence fell in the room.
You simply stared at the purple-haired guardian genie as she internalized with everything you've told her.
After a while, she re-opened her eyes to look at you.
"Did I hurt you?" she asked, concerned,
"Did I hurt you while I was... y'know..."
"Oh, no. You didn't hurt me, don't worry," you replied,
"You actually did nothing to me... except, well... nevermind."
"What?" she asked, grabbing you and looking at you with a serious stare,
"Tell me! You've told me everything, what could possibly be worse?"
You looked away, blushing, wondering how she was going to take the news.
"When you were like that, evil, you... don't ask me why, but you said you still had feelings for me..." you admitted.
Shantae's tanned face started to adopt a red color as well as she remembered what happened before Risky first attacked Scuttle Town in the morning, before it all happened.
"Yeah..." she replied, embarrassed, though she couldn't stop a small smile from appearing on her face. Nothing had changed, she still wanted you, the same guy who gave her all those compliments before, as her boyfriend.
Her heart began beating a bit faster at the thought, but she snapped back to reality when she heard you speaking,
"And... this is awkward... you told me you still wanted me as a boyfriend, and sorta threatened me into agreeing..." you admitted.
The declaration was followed by a heavy silence.
Shantae just stared at you, mouth agape, while you simply looked elsewhere, embarrassed.
When you finally looked at her again, she was starting to show some emotion on her face.
