Chapter #43

Hanging Out With Natasha

    by: Gfan735 Author IconMail Icon
"I think I'll hold off on having you start your work. After all, it already looks like you came up a bit short for the day," Natasha teases as she smirks.

"Ha ha. Very funny. I didn't know that superheroes had a day job as comedians," you quip half-heartedly as you lay down on her bed.

"I'm pretty convinced that Tony does. The man can come up with a comeback in seconds," the redhead states as she decides to lay down as well.

A comfortable silence ends up forming between the two of you afterwards. During this, Natasha occasionally glances over to look at you.

After a few minutes of this, she comes to the conclusion that she finds you rather attractive.

Sure, that could be due to the fact that she's a bit desperate after her last relationship ended with her ex disappearing to parts unknown. However, your size does cause her to think of some interesting ways that she could have some fun with you.

"You okay Natasha?" you question as you notice the spy begin to space out.

Jerkily nodding, Natasha decides to go for it. After all, she wasn't exactly known for being a woman who was extremely cautious.

"Yeah. Call me Nat though. Anyways, I was just thinking about all of the fun we're going to have together. I'm sure I could keep you up all night playing with you," she huffs out in a seductive voice.

"Really? What kind of games do you have?" you ask excitedly.

The Avenger finds herself thrown off by your question. Did you really not get what she meant?

"Pardon?"

"You said you were gonna play with me. Do you have a game console so that we can do that?" you chirp happily in response.

Natasha resists the urge to facepalm at your naivety.

'Why do I always end up interested in guys who are dense? ' she thinks to herself in frustration.

On the other hand, she probably should've seen this coming. After all, planning to steal from the Avengers to pay off student debt isn't what she would call a 'bright idea'.

"I'm pretty sure we have a game console lying around here somewhere. Half of the men here act like children so I wouldn't be surprised if we had one," she finally deadpans.

"Great! I can't wait to play with you!" you cheer happily, causing the spy to feel a warmth in her chest.

"I can't wait to play with you either," she finally relents with a soft smile.

While her first attempt at flirting may have failed, Natasha is now determined to keep it up. You'll eventually catch on to what she's implying. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day.

"So what exactly did you end up studying? You have student loans, so you obviously went to school at some point," the Avenger asks while propping her head up with her hand.

"Well, I studied law," you respond simply.

"And you robbed an Avengers facility for money. Wouldn't a degree like that have paid for itself over time?" she questions incredulously.

"Yeah. If I actually graduated," you murmur in embarrassment.

"Ah. It was too tough for you," she guesses, only to frown slightly as you shake your head with a downtrodden expression.

"Nope. It was actually fine. The reason I dropped out was because of my parents. They owned a business in New York that they put everything into. During the Chitauri attack, it ended up getting destroyed. They ended up having to start from scratch again and I left school so I could help them," you recount glumly.

Natasha is thrown for a loop after hearing your story. She certainly wasn't expecting the reasons leading up to your attempted theft to be actually understandable.

Simultaneously, your account brings up a fact that most of her team try to numb themselves to. Even though they're saving lives with their work, the collateral damage always has someone coming out with their lives ruined. Case and point, your parents who only recovered due to your aid.

"I'm sorry," she states softly.

You merely shrug nonchalantly in response.

"Don't be. It was my decision and it's one I would do again if I had another chance. They're doing great now and the business is thriving again," you say with a smile. Your parent's happiness makes you feel good inside everything you thing about it.

"But you're stuck with all of the debt. Have they offered to help?" Natasha probes curiously. From what it sounds like, she doesn't think that your parents would just leave you to carry that burden.

"They don't know I even have the debt. I told them I got a scholarship that payed it off. Again, it was my decision to drop out. I need to handle it without having them bail me out," you respond resolutely.

The spy looks at you for a moment as her still-developing feelings for you grow even more.

Not only are you cute, but you're selfless enough to give up your whole life plan just to help family. Alongside this is how you're apparently willing to be, in her mind, a self-sacrificing idiot to prove something to yourself. If you hadn't had her respect and interest before, you certainly have them now.

"I can't say that I judge you then. I probably would do the same to make ends meet," she finally admits with a smile, which you gratefully return.

"Thanks for understanding. I'm just glad things turned out the way they did."

"With you stuck at two inches tall and the threat of jail time constantly hanging over your head?" the redhead quips with a smirk.

"Nah. I get to hang out with you. If you had asked me about a day ago, I'd have said that my favorite Avenger was Iron Man. Now though, it's easily you," you state cheerfully while giving her a beaming smile.

Natasha feels her heart clench at your declaration. While a part of her wants to make a move, the more rational side tells her to wait for now.

'Damn it. Does he not realize how sweet he's being?! Why does he have to be oblivious about what he's doing?! ' she thinks, simultaneously frustrated and flustered by your praise.

The fact that she's even feeling this way startles her slightly. She's the Black Widow. She doesn't get all emotional because a guy compliments her. At least, she didn't used to.

After composing herself, Natasha looks down at you with a smile.

"Well, I'd avoid telling Tony about that. I don't think his ego could take losing a fan to me. He's still annoyed by the amount of Steve's merchandise compared to his."

"But Captain America has been around for seventy years. What did he expect?"

"Nothing realistic. With Tony, though, that tends to always be the case," she tells you.

The two of you laugh for a moment before falling back into comfortable silence. During this time, Natasha thinks of some things that the two of you could do.

What does she come up with?

You have the following choices:

1. A game the two of you can play

*Pen*
2. Getting your bed ready

*Pen*
3. Something else

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
