Natasha's Questions

    by: Gfan735 Author IconMail Icon
"Since I won, I think you should have to answer some questions for me," Natasha tells you, practiced calmness emanating from her tone. The playful glint in her eyes, however, also tells you that these questions probably won't be fun for you.

"Alright. Shoot," you state, suddenly a lot more nervous.

"What did you plan on doing after you got paid?" she asks.

"Honestly, I don't really know. My main goal was to get my debts paid before collectors started coming after me. After that, I pretty much planned on winging it," you admit while shrugging your shoulders. It's not as if the decision to rob from the Avengers was well thought out either.

"Really? You didn't meet anyone in college that you could've partnered up with on something?" she inquires. You didn't strike her as the type who didn't have any connections.

"I never really talked to that many people. Law school requires good grades, which do not come easily for me. A lot more time studying ended up causing me to have less time meeting people," you explain softly.

Truthfully, your self imposed exile did put a damper on your life for a while. After all, you'd constantly heard about how the college experience was the best time of some people's lives. The fact that yours was spend huddled in your room reading textbooks does sting a bit.

"I'm sorry," Natasha states simply, unsure of how to help. Being comforting has never really been one of her strengths, as her teammates can attest to.

"It's all good. It was my decision, anyways. I definitely could've balanced it out, but I wanted to make sure I succeeded," you explain, your voice a bit strained. After clearing your throat awkwardly, you look to the spy.

"Next question?"

The redhead thinks for a moment before an idea pops into her mind.

"Alright. Have you been out on a date in the past year?" she asks.

"Nope. A college dropout doesn't hold as much appeal as you think," you respond sarcastically. "I don't exactly blame them for that."

"True, but the reason why you dropped out makes you a lot more appealing, in my opinion," Natasha states absentmindedly, not really caring about what she said. In reality, she's using all of her training to make it appear that way.

"You really think that, Natasha?" you murmur, a faint blush appearing on your cheeks.

"Yes," she responds firmly. An intense look makes its way onto her face, one that leaves no room for debate over her what she said.

"Thanks. You're great too," you say meekly, unaware of how you should properly respond.

The Avenger lets out a derisive chuckle at that statement. Before she can refute it, however, you gesture for her attention, which she quickly gives.

"Before you go on about what you used to do, just remember about all of the good you've done too. You're a hero," you tell her confidently. "You can't bring someone up and then immediately put yourself down. You're not a monster, so stop thinking of yourself as one."

As Natasha goes completely silent, your gaze immediately drops to the ground, worried that you may have crossed a line with the spy. After a moment, however, you feel her press her lips on top of your head.

"Oh!" you exclaim as a blush overtakes your features.

"Thank you," she whispers earnestly after pulling away. Her warm breath washes over your entire body, causing a slight shiver to go down your spine.

"I'm just telling the truth," you reply honestly.

"And it means a lot to me that you think of me that way," she informs you before a smirk makes its way onto her face. "Also, I thought I told you to call me Nat."

"Whoops. Sorry about that," you chuckle while rubbing the back of your head. The area still feels warm from Nat's kiss, causing you to blush once more at the memory.

Seeing this, the redhead grins in satisfaction. It seems that you're not as oblivious as she initially thought. The very fact that you're flustered by that gives her all that she needs to know. Now it's just a matter of whether or not she wants to tease it out.

Luckily for you, she decides to have a bit of mercy. Dropping the idea of getting together right now may fry your brain, especially given how you reacted earlier. Plus, she could use a bit more time to figure out some other things she wanted to know about you.

After a moment, Nat decides that she wants to do something else.

What did she have in mind?
