50,000 years after the Battle of Yavin
Planetoid XB-982.
"Solar storm in five minutes." The computer intoned
You let out a sigh as you continued to tinker. "Yes, thank you. I know. I designed this facility's shielding myself."
"That is why the historical society would appreciate you waiting until tomorrow to initiate the temporal retrieval."
You rolled your eyes as you prepared to bring your equipment online. In the many years since the various Jedi/Sith wars, the historical society had been formed to catalogue the lost history of several blighted planets. And with the advent of time/space portals, your job was to collect figures of semi-historical note, figures whom the timeline would not miss too much, shrink them down and place them in miniscopes, elaborate vivariums, to be studied until they were returned to their native time.
Well theoretically. You often assumed that people never returned the temporally displaced miniscope residents. The forms to do it were really quite time consuming.
"Alright. So they wanted Luke Skywalker right?" You confirmed as your machines came online.
"A last minute change." The computer said. "He has been deemed temporally significant and off-limits. Select another Rebel figure from that era."
"Han Solo?"
"Temporally significant."
"Mon Mothma?"
"Temporally significant."
"Leia Skywalker?"
"Acceptable. Prolonged absence from the timeline is not projected to cause significant temporal changes if the subject is retrieved following the destruction of the first Death Star."
"Excellent." You smiled as you locked on to the Princess.
"Alert. Solar storm incoming. I will be disconnected until further noticed."
"You can go. I modified all this hardware myself. I can manage a simple temporal retrieval. I've done it a thousand times." You noted, indicating your many miniscopes.
"Procedure not recomm-" And that was all the computer got out.
"Finally." You smiled. The facility rocked slightly but your shields took the brunt of it. In a flash of blue/white light, the portal came online, piercing the space/time continuum.
"Come to me Princess." You smiled, imagining the famous Rebellion leader at only an inch tall.
Unfortunately, a strong solar flare struck your base in that moment of distraction. Stumbling, your hands brushed the portal's controls, causing it to send out a blinding flash of light.
When you noticed that the whine of the machine had stopped, you opened your eyes again. All was quiet. This was good. No one had seen your screw up. Maybe you should wait until tomorrow.
As you prepared to reboot the system, you suddenly leaped back as a massive white boot slammed down in front of you. Looking up, you recognized the gigantic form of Princess Leia of Alderaan, dressed in her historic white dress and cinnamon bun hairstyle.
You swallowed a lump in your throat. You'd shrunk yourself instead of her. This was so going on your official file. Studying the environment, your fear increased as you realized that-
1) You have been sent back to the pre-Rebellion days, meeting a teenage and hormonal Leia in the royal palace.
2) You have been sent back to the Imperial Era in Leia's private quarters.
3) You have brought an irate Leia into your future.
