Chapter #38

Arise, Chosen Undead

    by: _H_ Author IconMail Icon
You awoke to find yourself lying on some strange stone floor. Strangely enough, you had almost no memories of anything before this. As you got up, you noticed that the area you were in looked very noble, with lots of sunlight flowing in through the windows. What also caught your attention was just how large everything was. Even a simple potted plant seemed to be dozens of times larger than you. Further away, you saw what seemed to be a giant glowing door. Intrigued, you began exploring the area.

Nearby, you found what seemed to be a tiny sword, almost as if you were expected to be here. This obviously confused you, but seeing as you had no further information, you simply picked it up and continued walking. As if right on schedule, a spider dropped down in front of you. It clearly didn’t seem friendly, and was preparing to strike.

You tried your best to stab it with your sword, but it was too fast. The spider immediately pounced on you, quickly killing you. As the light faded from your eyes, you thought this was the end.

When suddenly, you awoke back up, just a few steps away from where you encountered the spider. Could it be?

You tested out a theory of yours, and died to the spider again. Sure enough, you respawned at the same place. You were practically immortal!

Once again, you approached the spider. This time, however, you were ready.

You managed to time a roll as it struck, and just barely avoided it. Then, not wasting a single moment, you thrust your blade into its side, killing. As it faded into dust, you felt yourself gain a little bit of power.

Just as you took a moment to breathe, another giant (well, to you at least) spider dropped down. Except this
time, around a dozen or more came alongside it. Now, you were more or less confident fighting a single one, but an entire horde? As you backed up, you suddenly felt a great rumbling in the ground. You weren’t sure what it was, but your instincts told you to stay right where you were.

As if right on cue, you watched as a giant foot came crashing down on the horde of spiders in front of you, crushing them all. Good thing you listened to your brain, or else you might have shared the same fate! You turned to look around at the owner of this foot, but it was hard to make out. They opened up the previously closed giant door nearby, and walked in.

Now obviously, you were slightly afraid of this person, as just a step of their foot would likely be enough to kill you. But if you managed to make them your ally, you’d be able to get through anything!

Surprisingly enough, as you walked towards the giant door, no more enemies attempted to ambush you. Considering how aggressive they were previously, you weren’t sure if it was a good or bad thing that they avoided this place. Upon finally reaching the door, you were left with a decision.

You could either try walking right in, or sneaking in a different way. You noticed there was some sort of ventilation located nearby, which you could likely enter by climbing one of the nearby window curtains. This would likely let you get in undetected, but was it really worth it?
