"Honestly, I just want to chat, but I don't know about what. I've... never been good with conversations" said Miya, a bit embarassed to admit it.
"That's okay. We can start bit by bit, and see where that lets us go"
Miya smiled at your kind detail.
"So, for starters: you work as part of the security staff, right?" A bit of an evident question, but as good a place to start as any. Or so you figured.
"Yes. As you have seen, I take my job seriously"
"Yeah..." you answered, rubbing the back of your head sheepishly "I suppose what you are protecting is really valuable?"
"It is. The kind of valuable that cannot be measured or priced"
That was an understatement. After all, you couldn't put value on a life. If your estimations are correct, and seeing Miya is still in the Discipline Squad, than this is Kamikura Island, and the S-plan could be in their early stages. Then again, she mentioned detaining girls, so the Sekirei Plan might be in full blast, so to say.
"I guess it pays well?"
"It does. It also gives me appropiate lodgings"
"I'll say" you answered, looking at the comfortable, but not overly luxurious room. "So, that one from before was a co-worker of yours?"
"Yes" answered Miya with a strained voice "I want you to listen to me. If you ever find a woman with long grey hair and noticeable eyebags, run and hide the best you can. She won't hesitate to kill you. She shows psychopathic tendencies. I've tried to have her ousted of this place, but my boss finds her too efficient to let her go"
That was an understatement. Karasuba hated humanity, comparing them to insects whose lives had no value.
"I don't think you'll need to leave this room, but if you're ever alone and she appears..."
"I understand" you answered with a gulp.
Miya, for her part, was actually enjoying having small talk with you. Although at first she didn't trust you, for good reasons, now she finds herself enjoying your company. She almost couldn't contain the urge of petting you with one hand, or the longing of having you closer to her. Could she be possibly reacting? But that was impossible. She was the first to awaken. She was too powerful to be winged. Then again... A traitorous part of her mind longed for that happiness her other siblings had when they were truly winged.
