“Well, if you wanna hang out with me, you can,” Mia says. “I’ve got a little room up in the city. We can be roommates—and I’ll help you research some way to find your home world. Maybe the library’s got a book that lists out all the worlds and gives us the coordinates. And if not, we can go treasure hunting and look for a book like that.”
“That sounds like a good idea,” you say. “Thanks for letting me stay with you.”
“Don’t mention it!” Mia says, grinning and showing off some fangs. But you’re not nervous at the sight—it’s clear that this tigress is completely friendly and kind.
“Well, we better get going,” she continues. “Lemme pick you up.”
She reaches for you with a hand-paw, and you quickly lift your arms so they won’t be pinned. You notice her hand lacks paw pads, and it has five digits like a human, each tipped with a claw. Fortunately, her claws don’t hurt you as her soft furry fingers wrap around you. Once she has a grip on you, she lifts you off the altar and brings you to her midriff. She seems ready to carry you around like this, and you’d be fine with that, since her grip is comfortable. But then she seems to think of something else, and uses her free paw to reach for one of the pouches on a belt just under her chest.
“I’m gonna put you in here,” she says. “Probably best if I have both hands free. The Kaleidoscope is pretty dangerous.”
As she speaks, she opens the pouch and slips you inside. It’s actually perfectly-sized for you: you can stand with your feet on the bottom, while your shoulders and head are exposed on the top so you can see, and you can rest your arms on the lip to secure yourself. However, the back of your head bumps up against her breast, making you blush. Her bust is only average-sized, but it feels huge due to your tiny size, and you feel a bit awkward being so close to it. Mia doesn’t seem bothered by it, though.
“Hope you’re comfy,” Mia says. She cracks her knuckles and starts walking to the doorway opposite where she came in.
“I-I’m fine,” you stammer. “So, where are we going?”
“I’m gonna explore this place a bit more. I wanna try to find some treasure. But I know you probably wanna get outta here, so as soon as we get our first haul, we can go. I’ve got this item that lets me warp out, so I’ll use that after we find some treasure.”
As Mia walks along, with you being gently jostled around in her pouch, you wonder if you’ll really be safe here. You don’t want to stay in the Kaleidoscope any longer than you need to. But you decide not to argue with Mia. Even though this place is dangerous, you get the feeling she knows what she’s doing, and you’ll be safe with her.
After being carried through a couple empty rooms, you ask Mia how long she’s been treasure hunting.
“A long time!” she replies. “I’m a treasure hunter extraordinaire, you know!”
“Is that what other people call you, or do you just call yourself that?” you ask with a smirk.
Mia playfully prods your head with a finger, careful not to stab you with a claw. “Hey, watch it, bud. I’m a real expert. Just watch. The next room’s gonna have plenty of treasure!”
“How can you tell?”
“I can smell it!”
You can’t smell any treasure, but you trust Mia’s sense of smell over yours. So you continue riding in her pouch, hopeful that the next room will contain something good.
When Mia goes into the next room, she’s greeted with a gang of monsters. Your heart skips a beat as you see the six creatures gathered on the stone floor ahead of you. They’re all the same species, and look like some sort of cat or weasel with yellow fur, white and brown markings, and a huge metal blade for a tail.
“Monsters!” Mia growls. “Those are kamaitachi!”
“What do we do?” you ask, a bit panicked.
“You just stay put,” Mia says. “I got this!”
The kamaitachi all face Mia and attack at once, charging and swinging their tails towards her. In response, the tigress draws several knives in one paw and flings them at the monsters. Three of them are struck and fall, fading into black smoke. But there are still three more. Mia cracks her whip and destroys the closest kamaitachi, then dodges the other two. She wraps her whip around the tail of the closest one, then swings it around and flings it at its comrade. The two monsters hit each other and poof into smoke.
“Easy!” Mia says. She looks down at you, and although her bust partially gets in the way, you can still meet her gaze. You smile up at her.
“Nice job,” you say. “You really know how to fight, huh?”
“Yeah! I’m not just a great treasure hunter. I can beat up monsters, too!”
Mia’s ears suddenly twitch, and she looks out into the room again. You look where she’s looking, and gasp. An even bigger monster is coming through the doorway on the opposite side of the room. It’s a large bipedal lizard with dark scales and sharp teeth, and it looks a lot more intimidating than the kamaitachi. You look up at Mia’s face, and notice she looks nervous now. You hope she’s able to stand up to this new enemy...
