One day, you’re relaxing at home when you feel a strange tingling sensation all over your body. You feel weak and faint, and struggle to stay awake. After just a few seconds, a strange green aura appears around you, followed by a blinding flash.
The tingling fades slowly, and your vision gradually comes back. You rub your eyes and blink as you look around, wondering what just happened.
You notice two things right away. First, you’re in a totally different place. You seem to be in a big field, with some scattered trees around and the sun shining above. Second, even more strangely, it seems like you shrunk! Everything looks way too big, especially the wild grass all around you.
Even worse, you notice something big approaching from the distance: a dragon! It’s bipedal, and has orange scales and big blue eyes, as well as purple frills on its head and the tip of its tail. Its belly and chest are yellow, and it has pale frills on the sides of its head, resembling either ears or horns. You also notice that it has wings on its back, and two small fangs poking out of its mouth.
You have to admit, this dragon looks cute. It also isn’t the kind of giant dragon you’d hear about in legends—compared to the nearby trees, this one is apparently human-sized. But it’s still enormous to you, and you feel like a doll compared to it, so it’s intimidating enough that you don’t want to be seen by it.
Unfortunately, there isn’t any good place to hide, aside from the grass. You crouch down and hope the blades of grass can conceal you. They don’t help much, but luckily, it seems like the dragon currently is unaware of your presence. You wait as it comes closer, shaking the ground more and more with each approaching step.
And then, to your surprise, it speaks.
“Ugh... another boring day of classes,” it says. The dragon is clearly female judging by her voice, which sounds youthful and raspy, the kind of voice you’d expect from a tomboy. “At least Ms. Fluttershy lets us go outside and do nature stuff. Outside assignments are way better than being cooped up inside.”
You’re intrigued. Apparently, the dragon is a girl, and also intelligent and civilized. She’s also a student of some kind, and out here on an assignment for a “Ms. Fluttershy”, whoever that is.
You don’t have much time to ponder these things, though. The dragon is almost on top of you, and it looks like you’ll get stomped unless you move. You gasp and scurry out of the way of her clawed foot right before it slams down behind you. The impact makes you fall forward into the dirt.
Then everything stops shaking. You look up at the dragon, and your heart skips a beat. She’s stopped walking, and she’s now standing over you—and looking right at you.
“Whoa!” she says, squinting her blue eyes at you. “I knew I saw something moving down there.”
She crouches to get a closer look. “Huh. Hey there, little dude. Never seen something like you before.”
You don’t really pay attention to what she’s saying. You’re too scared by the fact that a gigantic dragon is looming above you and staring right at you. Sure, she may look cute, but she’s still a dragon...
...a huge, gigantic, terrifying, enormous, teeth-gnashing, sharp-scale-having, horn-wearing, smoke-snoring, could-eat-a-person-in-one-bite dragon!
You immediately turn and run away.
“Hey! Wait!” the dragon yells from behind you. “I’m not gonna hurt you!”
You don’t really trust her, so you don’t want to stop running. But you also doubt you can outrun her or hide from her. What do you do?
