Chapter #4

Farah and Faye

    by: WTLamp Author IconMail Icon
Phineas's mind screeched to halt as he finished the sentence he was reading. Was he engaged to marry both Forsyth sisters? Because that's what his father's letter seemed to be implying.

Back when they'd started their schooling at the Citadel, the Forsyth twins had been close. Phineas remembered feeling jealous of their bond; while he liked his siblings well enough, he hadn't had the kind of closeness that Farah and Faye seemed to possess. As the years went on, the two seemed to drift apart until the year when Faye had been moved out of Vinixvue Tower and into Wrocklehurst Cellar, which seemed to be the point where their relationship had been completely severed.

Farah continued on as the perfect noble daughter, with a carefully curated group of friends, excellent grades, and a lithe figure that most of those students who were attracted to women found irresistible. Faye meanwhile had befriended "unsavory" sorts, dyed her hair, got not-perfect grades (not awful grades mind you, just not the kind of top marks that her sister regularly achieved), and had let herself go somewhat (something Phineas had noticed after realizing what he found attractive).

The two young women had started their educational careers so similarly before veering off into different directions, and now their paths were converging on Phineas. The young wizard was not a big fan of drama in his personal life (it was one of many reasons why he tended to keep to himself), and yet this decision of his father's seemed like it would result in a year of nothing but drama. Phineas was feeling tired already.

But maybe he had misread the letter? Phineas turned his gaze back toward's his father's missive with the hope that the problem was with his eyes.
