As he was walking through Viridian forest ash was attacked by a wild Scyther and once it was done his clothes were completely destroyed and he has only some minor cuts and scrapes from the encounter.

With his clothes destroyed he had to find something to replace them and he looked through the bag and picked something from the bag to wear.
