The effects of space travel on human development were much in the dark. Despite the hundred years of interstellar travel and the spread of human presence amongst the stars; there was still more to learn on the long-term effects of development of the human mind and body while stationed in space. A routine checkup on the children of the Guinevere was absolutely standard; to ensure the rollout of rations and equipment for the day to keep the kids occupied, with Randall Kaufman, dutifully accepting the responsibility of overseeing the Mars room for an entire peta-cycle.
The doors to the Mars room open, revealing a medium sized lounging zone decorated with several chairs and a large table rested in the middle. An oval window reavealed the vast view of space and the nearby planet -- Ulin'Tahn. He enter's the room and is immediately greeted by one of the nurses.
"Greetings, Mr. Kaufman." Nurse Julie nods, she gently interlocks her hands and straightens her posture. "Here for a routine checkup of the children?"
"Business as usual," He chuckles, stepping forward with a checklist in hand, "I'm here to also deliver the new ration cards. The dispencer for the protein gel malfuctioned and a replacement will be sent out from the surface of Ulin'Tahn soon enough."
"Yes," Nurse Julie felt her cheeks redden, "The malfunction of the protein dispencer was most unfortunate. I don't know what went wrong. I couldn't possibly give an explanation. The children were saddened to hear they wouldn't receive their favourite nutrient for lunch."
"How are the kids?" Randal asked, he slowly walked over to a nearby terminal and began accessing the room's information.
"If you'd like, we can bring them from their resting pods." Nurse Jolie responded, "There hasn't been a proper inspection since the last cycle. I'm sure it'll jog their memory."
"Wonderful." Randal clapped his hands, smiling. "An inspection. It's been a while since I've seen them."
The nurse quickly leaves through one of the sliding doors; leaving Randal to wait for a few minutes before hearing the familiar voices of children and the nurse herself. He readies his checklist and begins to ready his pen.
