A Grand Role Reversal

    by: Mr.Domino Author IconMail Icon
Randy was bringing one last bag out to the garage when the force closest identified as 'Magic' decided to make it's changes. It's purpose, as defined by Laura Veltman's wish, was to "Make something happen to fix this mess". It had scanned the Veltman house and everyone in it, including the newly arrived Fischels, all the way down to their emotional cores, and the empathic history of the house. And what it saw in it's all knowing yet rather clueless interpretation of events was that clearly the male and female humans had very little appreciation for each other and their struggles.

And so Magic decided that clearly the only real resolution was to switch the genders and roles of everyone in the house at the time of the change for one week. If no resolution was reached that would make the original reality better, then clearly this reality was superior. So in the time that it took a hummingbird's heart to beat once, Magic altered the very fabric of reality.

Randall 'Randy' Veltman was now Miranda 'Randi' Johnson, short and very feminine in clothing and make-up that accented her mature female body and made her look several years younger and more attractive. Her auburn hair was shoulder length and styled.

Norma Veltman was now Norman Johnson. Gone was the sundress and sandals and housewife body, replaced with a dark red polo shirt that seemed strained by the muscles of his new physique. A pair of worn but respectable jeans stretched down to a pair of sneakers. Her former blonde curls was now little more than a buzzcut hidden by a ballcap.

Laura Veltman was now Lucas Johnson. Gone was her female form, her long straight hair and girl next door looks, instead replaced by a curly haired teenage boy in a pair of beat up jeans and a dark blue t-shirt. Splotches of acne dotted his face.

Jonah Veltman was now Joanna Johnson. Where there had been an normal eight year old boy was now an eight year old girl in sweat pants and a Miraculous Ladybug t-shirt, her formerly short hair now hanging in a ponytail down the length of her back.

As for the Fischels, Magic included them even if they had not been the intended targets of the wish.

Carl Fischel became Carly Morrison. Her formerly early balding, slightly hunched pale body was straightened and smoothed, rejuvenated blonde hair hanging down past her shoulders and impressive breasts almost bursting out of a blue sundress. Her glasses shifted from being a requirement for driving to stylish black shades and her full lips were painted red with lipstick.

Jennifer Fischel became Jeffery Morrison, and her former elegant female body seemed to shrivel as it lost it's glory. Breasts shrank to barely muscled pecs, her glorious black hair whisped away to a barely managable combover, and her clothes went from stylish to bland, her dress segmenting into a pair of black slacks and a featureless maroon button down.

And as the people within the house changed, so did the house. All photos changed to represent the new identities, rooms changed to reflect new style preferences, even the vehicles changed, the large SUV becoming a large cab truck with a covered, lockable bed cover, Norma's former white economy car shifting to a small Volkswagon. Across the road, the former Fischel house endured similar changes to fit the new reality.

Satisfied that it's work was done, the force of 'Magic', had it been a visible, tangible object, did the equivalent of curling up and going to sleep, waiting for this exact moment next week to awaken and assess if the wish criteria had been met or not. If it was, then Magic would simply revert the changes. If it hadn't, then Magic would not force that obviously inferior, sad reality back into existence.

With the time it took for a hummingbird's heart to beat twice, the new reality solidified into place.
