Chapter #9

A Sneak Peek Into The Future

by: Fitzroy Clement Author IconMail Icon
Once Willow calmed down a little bit from her big news, Tammy invited her into the living room to sit on the comfy couch.

As Tammy looked at some of Willow's concept artwork for the show that she brought with her, trying to play the role of supportive mother, Bill glanced over at Gloria, who was wearing an over the top expression of stunned disbelief. Gloria's jaw was dropped, her eyes were practically escaping from her sockets, and then she whispered: “Should we tell her?”.

Bill shook his head and whispered back softly: “Not yet”.

They both walked into the living room, where Bill saw some of Willow's drawings sitting on the coffee table as she was explaining them to Tammy.

“And this is Brad. He's more or less the main character.”

Bill glanced at the sketch and noticed that “Brad” looked very much like he himself normally looked. Not 100% identical, but close enough to be disturbing to Bill. The drawing Willow was showing had Brad first discovering what Willow called the “Grellstone”, picking up the mysterious artifact that somehow appeared on his front porch. Below Brad was some black text- the narration that was going to be added to the show once it started being produced.

“WHY COULDN'T LIFE JUST BE EASIER? WHY DO I HAVE TO SUFFER BECAUSE OF SOME IDIOT NEANDERTHAL, OR WAIT AROUND LIKE A DOOFUS FOR MY SADSACK FAILURE OF A FRIEND? OR TAKE CRAP FROM MY FAMILY?”

Bill realized that his internal thoughts- the monologue that goes on his head- more or less said the exact same thing earlier this morning. He was starting to wonder what else Willow knew.

“Honey?” asked Bill as he sat down next to Willow.

“Yeah, Dad?” she asked with a bright smile on her face.

“What's the plot of your first episode?”

Willow laughed.

“Well, that depends on how the Disney Channel decides to schedule everything. They don't always put the episodes in chronological order, but the first episode we're planning on has Brad, Tim, and Gina getting into a fight, and the Grellstone turns them all into adults in their mid-fifties. Towards the beginning, Tim and Gina are boyfriend and girlfriend, but they hate each other, and Gina gets a hold of the stone and wishes that Brad and Tim were an old married couple. Tim transforms into Brad's wife Tabitha. Tabitha wants to stay as an adult woman because she thinks her life is better that way because Gina turned everyone against him in the real world, but Gina hates it because she hates being old, which is understandable. However, her appearance also reminds her too much of her mother Artemis, who Gina sees as a real mean, controlling bitch, but really just wants what's best for her. Meanwhile, Brad wants the stone back for himself because he found it first, and he thinks that it's therefore rightfully his. So for the rest of the episode, they're all scheming to get it back from each other.”

As Willow was enthusiastically explaining the plot, the grin on her face bespeaking her own pride at inventing such a far out and clever plot, Tammy began to become more concerned. The pleasant look on her maternal face began to turn into one of rapt attention at what her daughter was going to say next.

“By the end of the episode, Gina finally gets a hold of the stone, and...”

“And?” added Gloria, who realized that Willow was talking about her.

“And she makes another angry wish that screws everything up even further, but we haven't decided what that'll be yet.”

Willow shrugged her shoulders.

“Sorry! We're still really early in development for this. You three are literally the first people to know who aren't directly involved. Disney would probably sue the pants off of me if they found out I was telling you guys” she said, laughing a little.

“Well that...” Tammy hesitated. “That sounds really creative, honey.”

Gloria looked a little mad, not liking the implication that she screwed things up for everyone in the first place.

“Yeah” said Bill. “I'd watch the hell out of that, Willow. You know how much I love animation.”

Willow laughed.

“That's why I wanted to tell you first, Dad! You're the one that turned me on to all this!”

“So what about those other gemstone you mentioned earlier? The ones you were thinking about putting in Season 2?”

“Oh that! I...”

Option 1: Willow explains that she's planning on there being other gemstones that are powered by different emotions, sort of like Green Lantern, but they are hidden all across the universe.
