Janice awoke like she had for the past couple of months, with an alarm and notification of what was for breakfast today. She quickly showered and got dressed, relishing in how her hips were quite snug in her jumpsuit. She entered the Mess Hall early with Todd and Sam, as usual, the three sharing hugs.
"You're looking good today." Todd remarked, his hand dragging along her waist as their hug ended.
"Thank you." Jan replied with a smirk. Sam simply looked at her for a moment, trying to see what was different. Jan quickly went over and swiped her card, excited to be eating again. The FDS did something that Todd and Sam had never seen before. It stuttered and processed, a slight ticking sound rattling out as it calculated Jan's calorie ration. The two stared in confusion and Jan in excitement as it printed out and rather large meal, one that will certainly keep her enlarged stomach full for several hours. The other two go on to get their own rations, Sam's being larger than Todd's.
"Jan, doncha think that's ah big plate uh food?" Sam asked as they all sat down together.
"It is, uh, kinda big..." Todd said, noticing the slightly larger bulge of Jan's stomach.
"Seems normal to me." Jan replied, popping a bit of food into her waiting mouth. "Besides, the FDS doesn't make mistakes." she tugged on her jumpsuit's zipper, trying to make it more comfortable.
"Yea, but, seriously, that's a lot of food." Todd said, watching her eat. Jan kept eating, but her mind raced. Would her friends judge her for eating so much? She didn't dare have a repeat of the Calgri.
"Maybe you just have less food?" Jan's pace picked up slightly.
"We have normal rations." Sam said, the irony lost on her.
"Well, what would I do? Just not eat it? It dings the doctor if I don't and that's something I don't want to deal with." Jan shoved a particularly large bite into her mouth, she struggled slightly chew it.
"Choking on your Food isn't going to help." Sam injected. Jan made eye contact with her and then looked back at her food. She pursed her lips and looked at Todd.
