Start walking home

by: Komfy Kat Author IconMail Icon
You take one last look around the front of the school, and decide that your mother isn't there. You start walking in the direction of home, fortunately you remember how to get home from here. You close your eyes for a moment, letting the cool autumn air flow around you as you kick at some leaves on the sidewalk.

Somehow you'd have to convince your mother to take you to see Sarah, but something told you that might be difficult. How were you going to tell her that you wanted to go visit some random girl who'd you just met the day before at some shop to which you had no idea of the address or where it was located. Especially since your mother thought you were some 10 year old girl.

You sighed, looking at the cloudy sky. The clouds seemed to roil and turn, threatening to continue the downpour from that morning as you continued walking. Several leaves fell from the trees that lined the street, joining their companions on the ground. The smell of decay was starting to fill the air with its earthy scent as the leaves rustled wetly with each step.

Finally, you arrived at home, stepping inside through the front door and were immediately assulted by the smell of fresh cookies as your mother called from the kitchen, "Hey Maddie! How was school today?"

Dropping your book bag next to the front door you walked to the kitchen, "It went good."

"That's good sweetie!" You mother said, looking up at you as you entered the kitchen, "Do you have much homework?"

"No" it hadn't taken you long to do the work in class since this was stuff you'd already learned years ago, but something told you that you probably shouldn't tell your mom that part.

"Move it twerp." a voice came from behind you, as someone pushed past you.

You steadied yourself against the wall, watching Rose grab several cookies from the counter where they were cooling before heading back upstairs without another word.

"Have a cookie before your sister eats them all," your mother said, pointing to the cooling cookies, "She's already eaten almost a dozen.

Your mother seemed to frown as she placed another batch into the oven, she muttered something under her breath.

"What?" you asked, taking a cookie from the counter and cradling the warmth in the palm of your hand.

"Oh, it's nothing." your mother smiled, "Now tell me about your day."

You sat in your spot at the table as you ate your cookie, telling your mother everything that you'd done at school. For a moment you felt like a little kid again as visions from your childhood seemed to flood your mind. During your retelling of your day, you grabbed a couple more cookies, savoring their gooey warmth and rich flavor.

Done recapping your day, you glanced at the table, wondering how you were going to go see Sarah. You could always try to convince your mother to take you, but that might be awkward if she listened in on your conversation. You could also wait until later and try sneaking out. Or you could wait until tomorrow and see about going into town by yourself.

You have the following choices:

*Pen*
1. Try to convince your mother

2. Wait until later

3. Wait until tomorrow

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
