A Shrinking story where you get REALLY small!

This choice: She saw something, and is coming to investigate!  •  Go Back...
Chapter #6

The Gaze of a God

    by: BasedChrisBenoit Author IconMail Icon
Emily walked downstairs, looking to get something to eat. She didn't eat breakfast that long ago but she didn't want to wait until lunch, and she's hungry now. As she reaches the first floor she rounds the corner, and just as she does so she sees what looks like a glowing blob rapidly sink into the floor by the back door.

"What the..." She mumbled to herself. Curious, she walks over to the back door, to the spot that she thinks the blob disappeared at, or at least where she thinks it happened.

This is real bad, you're pretty much in a no-win scenario here. There are 3 possible options here, and all 3 suck. You can either be seen by Emily, and who knows what happens next from that. You can avoid detection, but get crushed underfoot accidentally anyway, or you can avoid detection completely, but then you're still stuck at a microscopic size for the foreseeable future anyway. But if it's any, you're praying to a higher power that's it the third option.

Your thoughts are again interrupted by the movements of the living titan in front of you. Impossible to be heard normally, you cover your ears as the sounds of Emily's bones and muscle movements threaten to deafen you from their close range. Emily readjusts herself to be squatting now above you. Her face is now barely in visible range, as it appears faded and distorted from how far away it is. Despite this, you can feel her eyes scanning the area, and over you as well. Fortunately you're so small that she still can't see you despite moving in for a closer look, trying to find any advantage that you can take from this situation.

Suddenly, the Goddess Speaks
"I know I saw something...." To Emily this was a mumble, but to you she may as well have beat you over the head with a bat from the force of the sound waves hitting your body. Unfortunately for you, which seems to be a common occurrence over the last few minutes, Emily again decides she needs to look closer. She readjusts again, laying her arms down on the ground for support (While causing more earthquakes and chaos for you) she moves her head right over the tile that you currently inhabit.

Emily's face is much clearer now, as it has become the sky over your puny world. Her breaths provide both a constant booming noise and a fierce wind for you as well. And to top it off her arms now trap you, leaving you with only a single direction that does not contain Emily's expansive body. Not that escape was ever an option.

Fear begins to grip you anew. There is a very real chance that Emily will spot you from this close and at this angle. regardless of size you do stand out against white tile, and if she detects you as a living being it's curtains for you. Every instinct in your body tells you to run, but you know that might give you away. However, at that moment your eyes meet with the Goddesses, and you can see every detail of her eye stopping and focusing. This is it, she saw you! You need to go now! You turn and run for one of the cracks between tiles, hoping you can lose her there.

You have the following choices:

1. She has seen you. Your fate is no longer yours to control

*Pen*
2. She hasn't actually seen you

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
