"Let's shrink and get out of here!" Jacqueline jumped up and clapped her hands together to say. "Really?" You respond, surprised she chose that option, "Are you sure?" "YES!" she quickly replied back, "And hurry up and do it before I change my mind!"
Jacqueline was left between two dangerous, impossible answers, but reluctantly, she chose the shrinking one. What drove her over the edge was the smell, and really not wanting to have to deal with the awful stench for several more hours, since it was already starting to get to her. There was also just the humility factor of being trapped underneath her younger sister's toe, just the idea of Emily having a freeing good time, all the while unintentionally torturing her older sister didn't sit well with her. She'd unironically rather be completely insignificant, but free, then be stuck as just her sister's speck.
You looked at Jacqueline's face of determination, and also slight fear, and decided not to waste any time. In the back of your head, while you were also nervous, you were also very interested to see just how far the remote could shrink you two, and how you'd perceive the new world. Grabbing onto your sister's hand, you pointed the remote once again at the both of you, zapping as you both quickly dwindled down to depths unknown.
Putting it back in your pocket, the two of you were in awe as the landscape underneath the toenail became completely unrecognizable. They were unable to fully see the roof of the nail in their darkness, which now stretched on endlessly like a grand cathedral, and the peach floor edge they were on was now a rough desert filled with hills, inclines, edges, and sinkholes. Not to mention dust and creatures of various sizes that ranged from being their size to towering over them. If they were around a millimetre before, they were probably around a nanometre now. Truly nothing.
They didn't want to take too much time "admiring" their environment, since their plan wasn't to remain here, so nodded to each other, as they began sprinting down the "desert". Nothing else mattered to them but reaching the edge so paid no attention to anything that may cause them to hesitate. It took several minutes of non-stop running, which caused you to think about how time must be flowing so much slower for you two, since you figured Emily had only done a couple *verrrrrrrrry* slow steps since your micro-sizing.
Eventually, you reached the edge of the toe, where you could see the outer portion of the sock almost resembling a futuristic shield uncovering an entire planet. Looking down at the now endless depth below the toe, and the space between it and the sock at their new size, Jacqueline started to panic. "W-wait, that's impossible! It's like a canyon, we can never--" but you cut her off, grabbing her hand tight again and saying, "It's fine. Trust me. We're the size of nothing. Which means we're lighter than air."
Jacqueline realized what you meant and agreed to follow your lead. With a running start, the two microbe siblings jumped off the edge, finding themselves soaring into the air higher and farther than the two ever had. It was almost magical. Jacqueline was screaming and waving her feet around like crazy, while you were paddle kicking your way, unsure exactly how you could really travel with your new structure.
The two reached the fibre of the sock, landing on what appeared to be one of infinite platforms that stretched upwards, downwards, and in every direction, Quickly catching their breath, you turned and said "Look! See! We're small enough that we can travel in between the cracks of the fibres to get out of here!" You both each got on your knees to walk across the fibre, so as not to accidentally trip and be separated, and after passing a couple layers that made up the "cloth", you were free.
You and your sister looked around to find yourselves barely able to comprehend the outside world. You couldn't tell what room you were in, and the only clear objects were dust mites that soared around like giant meteorites. You were amazed by this newfound exposure, while Jacqueline was less thrilled, but still breathed a sigh of relief she could smell easily again. They looked down and were able to notice the high-top converse come into focus as Emily was about to put on. "It's a good thing we made it out just now, if we acted anytime later, this would've all been for nothing" you thought to yourself, if they had been stuck in the shoe at this size.
However, the two didn't have a grip on the fibre as much as they thought as one jolt of Emily moving their foot down caused the two siblings to be launched downwards, free falling into the unknown. Their weightlessness meant they were actively falling, but rather floating amongst the wind. You figured this meant you wouldn't die crashing into the ground, but had no idea where'd you end up. Jacqueline was having a worse time, constantly flipping around like she was in zero gravity, screaming in despair, worried over the thought of being lost the size of a germ.
The two were floating for so long that Emily had already placed her foot into the shoe, with the movements she made changing the trajectory the wind was carrying her two insignificant siblings, as they opened their eyes to find themselves about to make contact with a new alien surface:
