You and Jacqueline twisted and turned your nanoscopic bodies desperately through the air, praying you'd make contact with something soon. Sure enough, those prayers were granted when you two looked down and noticed you were quickly approaching a long, wide pink surface, which you realized was Emily's finger.
You initially breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that would be better then ending up in the shoe or something more dangerous. However, a reminder of your current size started to rear its head as the finger started to get bigger, and bigger, the closer you got. Soon, the indents that made up the finger prints became much more noticable, and the cracks were starting to open up. You weren't going to land *on* Emily's finger, you were going *in* Emily's finger.
The winds knocked the two siblings into each other, as knowing where their fates were going to be, bear hugged and cried for their lives as two organisms smaller than specks entered the atmosphere of their little sister's finger. Meanwhile, Emily was without a care in the world having put on her shoes and making her way out to see her friend, unaware of the newfound peril her older siblings would have to face inadvertently because of her.
You and Jacqueline finally landed, as all around you pink walls stretched on infinitely upwards, pulsating and moving alongside Emily's movements, but due to their size, time flowed significantly shorter. Also something you quickly realized, despite the movements you felt, you were expecting to be tossed up back in the air the moment Emily pointed her finger down, but nothing happened. Instead, you were both so minuscule that the gravity around Emily relative to you both was keeping you "safe". She was now literally a planet to you two.
You and your sister were still hugging each other close, no longer caring about any awkwardness, only worry being making sure you and your sibling won't get lost or hurt. Jacqueline turned to you and said "What are we going to do? We're inside Emily's skin! How are we going to survive??" "Look look it's okay", you responded to try and reassure her. "Remember, we still have the remote, we'll be able to turn back to normal. We just have to wait, so we only have to survive here for a little while. Don't think it's completely hopeless."
Jacqueline heard your words and started to calm down a bit. They may be less than nothing right now, but this wasn't for forever. This was just a small bump in their original plans, and now just had to deal with the consequences. She sniffed her nose, before holding back onto your hand, nodding to him, as the two of you stood up and prepared to walk.
You figured, since it'll take probably a day till the remote charges, you probably should explore to find some place where you could safely camp out, as well as find some kind of nutrients to survive on. While walking I explained this to Jacqueline, causing her to gag just thinking about what they could possibly eat at this size, leading her to mention regretting asking to be this size. However, when I asked if this was worse than being stuck in the sock all day, she couldn't answer, so just slyly said "Touche."
We ended up walking for what felt like, for us, several hours. The fingerprints made up a labyrinth of twists and turns that each lead to nowhere in particular, just more long hallways through which consisted of anything microscopic, but to the nanoscopic kids, seemed gigantic. Dust specks of many sizes floated in and out of the fingers, and many found themselves lodged into corners that they had to climb over. At several points they found pockets of water, but stopped when they realized it was sweat that slowly got bigger the longer they stayed. They knew if they stayed near it too long they'd get swept up, or worse, so made sure to flee somewhere else anytime it showed up.
During this alone time, we used the opportunity to get closer to each other. We figured since the shrinking situation started as a way to make amends, might as well not be silent the whole time and actually talk like siblings. You both talked about what's been going on with school, she asked about your relationship with your girlfriend, and she opened up about a girl she's been interested in seeing. You ended up asking why she was always so judgmental towards you, admitting that it mostly stemmed from her projecting some of her own issues, and just always seeing her younger siblings as the "little ones" she felt she had to give a hard time, once again apologizing for taking things too far. You thank her, noting that given what their in right now, she'd more than made up for it.
After walking past what you assumed to be the "tiny" (large) remnants of a splinter still stuck in her finger, you and Jacqueline quickly hid behind it because you finally found what you were looking for. Jacqueline, holding her mouth said "What are those disgusting creatures?" pointing at several multi-coloured blobs nearby. "To put it bluntly, those are the germs." You knew if there was anything that could direct you two to nutrients to survive, it'd be other micro organisms. But you also knew how dangerous it would be going up against them. One wrong move and you'd both be the food. You looked toward each other as you discussed your gameplan.
