Ethan decided that he had to switch interests with his sister. It was one of the easiest ways to get to know how mental swaps feel. The swapplet was sadly not informative about such things. Ethan took a deep breath and selected interests and confirmed his swap.
Nothing seemed to have changed. Ethan tried to look closer inside his sisters' room, but it was too dark to really make out any difference. Deciding that he was done here, he quietly closed the door and made his way back to his room.
"I don't feel different", he thought. "But I didn't when I swap with dad either."
When he reached his room and turned on the light, he immediately saw changes. The posters that adorned his room had changed from video game and some sports posters to anime posters. There still was one video game poster but instead of Call of Duty, it now showed the cover of the latest Persona game.
"It has such an awesome story", he thought and immediately shuddered. Deep down he knew that he should not know much about the game apart from that it exists, he now knew the whole story, every character's name and backstory. He also realized that while he normally liked games for the gameplay, he somehow did not really care that much for the combat mechanics like he usually would. He was more interested in the characters and their relationships. With horror he also noticed that he suddenly cared for what characters would make the best couple, something he did not care for in the slightest before.
"At least I think I shouldn't", he mumbled, finding it hard to distinguish what has been swapped and how it was supposed to be. Only if he really concentrated, he could tell. "This at least puts me at ease with the mom thing. I only enjoyed it because she was my wife at the time."
He walked curiously over to his wardrobe. It was still filled with his mother's clothes, which already had filled it plenty enough, but now that there were also cosplays in it, it was almost bursting.
Ethan took out a Sailor Moon cosplay. "I wonder if it sill fits me", he thought with a smile as he turned the cosplay to look at it from all angles and thinking back at the time he sewed it himself. "It was my first cosplay after all.
He stopped and blinked. This was not right. He had never sewn something in his entire life!
"With this new reality I guess I have though", he thought and began undressing, curious if it still fit him. It was the first cosplay he ever made. He remembered loving Sailor Moon when he was younger, and he had always dressed up as one of the Sailor Warriors on Halloween. When he had gotten older, it annoyed him that the costumes you can buy in stores where just not as accurate as they should have been. After taking some sewing classes as well as help from his mother, he had made this cosplay all himself.
With a smile, he slipped the dress over his head. In the back of his mind he knew that this whole story about the cosplay happened to some degree to his sister and not him. They had only swapped interests, so it was unlikely that they had experienced exactly the same events as the other person, but since they lived in the same town, under the same room, events were bound to be similar. Ethan could not really tell what was different though. Did Stacy take sewing classes? He did not know.
His thoughts were pushed away when he noticed that the dress had gotten too short and too tight. How old had he been when he made it? 12? 13? He was not sure about the exact age, but he definitely had gotten bigger since then.
"A shame", he sighed and peeled the dress off. "I guess this was bound to happen." He put the cosplay back on a hangar in his wardrobe. He should probably get rid of it since it did not fit him anymore, but he could not. There were too many good memories attached to it.
With a quick glance on the clock, Ethan decided it was time to go to bed. He put on the teddy again and went back to bed. It took a while, but he soon fell asleep. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
