Sometimes it feels like the universe just loves giving people the double middle finger. This was the feeling Jen Polluck had as she walked through the campus of Buttercombe Academy, but no one could blame her for having that thought running through head. One minute she was being enrolled in the high school she always wanted to get into and it had everything she could ask for. It had a variety of sports teams, after school clubs and excellent teachers. Then the next thing she knew an earthquake destroyed the school beyond recognition leaving Jen high and dry with just a week before the semesters started.
Then the night after the incident Jen’s mother told her she received a call from her Aunt Shannon in which she said that she heard what happened and is working on enrolling her into Buttercombe. Both Jen and her mother were reluctant about this, but there wasn't much they could do with their current situation. While Jen is grateful to her Aunt for doing this for her, she is still hesitant about attending Buttercombe for two reasons.
The first was that Jen was well aware of Buttercombe's reputation of turning girls into blimps and turning the blimps into even bigger blimps. Jen knew that only a small percentage of girls leave the school thin and ever since Buttercombe started the partnership with the Yeng Corporation that number has decreased further. The second reason had to do with her Aunt Shannon, while Jen does love her Aunt a lot she can be a bit overbearing at times. For instance Aunt Shannon usually greets her favorite niece with what Jen has dubbed “the all-enveloping hug”. Also, while Jen normally doesn't go overboard with eating food for some reason when she is around her Aunt, she cannot control herself and just eats like there is no tomorrow. The last time that Aunt Shannon visited Jen during the summer, Jen swore she gained 15lbs and don’t even get her started with what happened on her birthday last year.
“Alright calm down.” Jen said to herself. “Just keep remember watch how much you eat and keep the number of visits with Aunt Shannon to a minimum.” “Keep those two thoughts in your mind and you might just graduate with your figure intact.
As Jen entered the main building of Buttercombe, she saw a map of the campus and looked at it. Jen noticed that the headmistress’s office was pretty close by, so were the dorm rooms and the cafeteria. After giving some thought Jen decided to go to...
