Chapter #16

The History of the Chimeric Pokemon

by: Jack Walleye Author IconMail Icon
The pod trembles, then a sound like a vacuum fills the room. You grab hold of the panel, as you nearly are knocked off the machine. By the time the shaking stops, you find yourself thankful for the fact. Your thankfulness is interrupted as the pod makes a sound like a latch disengaging, then the front begins to rise, revealing another Type: Null.
The new Type: Null gives a sound that might have been a groan as they stagger forward. They shake their head and blink a few times before looking at Null, confusion crossing their artificial-looking eyes. Their oddly tinny voice emanates from their helmet, "Who are you? Are you the successful version? Did the scientists do it? Where is everyone? Where is Master?"
Seeing that Null is shocked and clearly doesn't know how to respond to the other Type: Null, you choose to speak instead, "Slow down. One question at a time, please."
The new Type: Null spins about and catches sight of you. They gasp before asking, "A-A tiny human? That can understand me? How? Are you another experiment? Are you here to fix me?"
"Slow down. Yes, I'm small and can understand you. No, I don't know how. I was hiking, fell unconscious, then woke up like this. Null found me and I've been trying to fix this. More importantly, you asked a lot of questions that I'm not sure how to answer. Why don't you tell me what you can about yourself, then I can try to see what I can answer."
"Know you not. Why tell would-" Null began, only for the new Type: Null to interrupt.
"Of course. I am Type: Full- er, actually, that would Type: Null; RKS System Version 5. I was created as part of a project to create a synthetic Pokemon that could replicate the abilities of a powerful Pokemon from Sinnoh myth. This Pokemon could wield the powers of any type of Pokemon. Thus, the RKS system was developed. The system imbues specially synthesized cells with energy. When running memories that hold recorded data of a specific type, the system changes the type of energy. This changed the structure of the cells, changing their type in the process. These cells were used to make Type: Null; RKS System Version 1. At first, everything seemed functional until they activated the RKS system. As expect, its activation greatly improved Version 1's power and, when the proper memory was loaded, allow their typing to change. It also effectively became their body's source of energy. If it was somehow shut off- though that is near impossible due to our bodies maintaining the system like it is one of our organs- they would die. Same with myself. However... Version 1 began to malfunction. Their emotions became vastly amplified and they began to respond with aggression to anything that even slightly displeased them. So they were fitted with a helmet that suppressed the RKS system, which also reduced the emotional imbalance and aggression, and were put into stasis until the system could perfected and they could be fixed. Then the next four versions were made, including me. While our emotions are more stable, we still would often exhibit aggression at slights and when stressed. I was given to a scientist, my Master, in hopes his kindness and training could help me. I showed improvement, but then I hurt my Master in a fit of aggression, just like the others. Thus, I was put in stasis until the system could be perfected and I could be fixed. You don't know this? Am... Am I not to be fixed?"
You hesitate at this, but the Type: Null seems to be desperate for an answer, if their voice and eyes gave any indication, "Well, Five... Can I call you that?" Five nods as you prepare yourself to answer them.

You have the following choices:

1. You tell them what you think is the truth.

*Pen*
2. Null interrupts you and speaks.

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
