Reaching out at random, Emma's hand closed around what felt like an apple. Giving it a gentle tug, she heard it break away from its tree with a light snap. Illuminating it with her phone, she eyes the shiny red fruit, giving a thoughtful hum.
Interesting... She thought, rotating it slowly in her hand. Despite the obvious lack of an owner, all the fruit in this place seems to be thriving... Well, on the surface anyway. I'm not entirely sure about the taste and honestly, I'm a little reluctant to find out...
Still rotating the apple slowly, Emma rolled the potential dangers of eating it around her head. Unable to come up with anything more dangerous and improbable than a witch had poisoned it, she shrugged and took a large bite.
The crunch echoed around the empty greenhouse for a few seconds, followed by Emma's surprised moan. It tastes... absolutely divine! She thought, chewing slowly. So juicy, so crisp and so tasty!
Quickly polishing it off, she dropped the core into an empty pot next to her while, without really meaning to, reaching for another Apple. Pulling it off the tree, she took a bite out of it before holding it up.
"Behold!" She declared through a mouthful of apple. "The newest Apple product, the iApple! Get one today for only $99!"
With her sales pitch over, she finished off yet another apple, chucking the core into the same pot behind her.
Reaching for a third apple, Emma wasted no time in devouring it. Unlike the last two, which she had chewed slowly in order to savour its taste, this one was chewed quickly and swallowed quickly. Another core was flung over her shoulder, landing next to the pot.
Apple after delicious apple vanished into Emma's mouth until the tree she had been grabbing from had been picked dry. Letting out a quiet burp and wiping a bit of apple juice from her chin, Emma shook her head.
"Urgh... I feel so full... But they were some damn good apples! I should grab a couple of seeds to plant at home".
As Emma turned to the small pile of cores behind her...
