Chapter #4

Turning Ron Into a Chair

    by: Unknown
Hermione decided that she would start out by practising her Transfiguration spells. She recalled that there was a spell she had seen in an advanced Transfig book that could transform a boy into a chair. She wondered at the time, what would be the point of such a spell? If she wanted to make a chair out of a boy, all she had to do was sit on him. Of course, if she was to turn him into a chair, perhaps other girls might think he was just a regular chair, and sit on him; or she could sit on him herself. That spell, aside from seeming pointless, suddenly had potential.

She took out her wand and pointed it at Ron; since he was the most vocal, he would have the honour of being her first test subject.

"Hermione, what are you doing?" The squeaky voice of the tiny Ron asked her, in alarm.

"Stoolio!" she cast the spell.

Ron felt the magic suddenly grip his body. he tried standing up, only to find his chest being bent forwards, his arms lowered to the floor and he was suddenly standing on all fours. His head was bent backwards, until it came to rest, touching his back. His arms and legs started to transform; no longer the limbs of a boy, they became wooden legs, just as his body turned to wood, and his face a padded cushion. Addiional wooden arms and a seat back grow from the two wooden legs that had been his arms, and as Ron had started out as a shrunken boy, the chair that he had become also grew until it was the same size as a regular chair. The whole process took less than a minute, and when it was done, a wooden chair with a cushioned seat occupied the space where he had been; the boy now having taken the form of that chair, and his face transformed into its cushioned seat. Hermione had even managed to modify the spell sightly, so Ron would keep his awareness; he would know, and feel when somebody was sitting on him.

Once this was done, Hermione cast another spell, turning Ron into a portkey, which took him (as a chair) along with Hermione and Harry to room which looked like the regular Gryffindor common room, but was somehow... different.

"What did you just do to Ron?" Harry gasped.

"Turned him into a chair of course" Hermione pointed out "do you think I should sit on him?"

"What? No! Are you crazy?"

"If I don't then another girl is bound to sit on him before long."

"Or one of the boys."

"Oh no, Harry. This is the Gryffindor girls' common room."

"Girls' common room?"

"Of course, Harry. We have a room of our own, didn't you know that? Boys can't reach it, as it is at the top of the staircase, along with our dorms. You do know about the spell that stops boys from coming up our stairs? You couldn't have made it to this room, if I hadn't brought you here."

"That's stupid."

"No, Harry. Don't you know anything about girls? We like our own company, now and then; a private place where we can hang out, and discuss topics that boys can't understand."

"I don't understand."

"My point, exactly. Only girls will come in here, so only girls will sit on the Ron stool. I'll tell you something though, Harry. If another girl doesn't arrive soon, I'll sit on him myself."
