Carl was at Palisades almost from the moment that he sat down with her. He mocked her, he pestered her, he even used ethnic slurs concerning her Vietnamese appearance in his effort to provoke a reaction. Carl's endgame was to get Palisades so angry that she'd storm off from the date, proving that she wasn't a dragoness.
Instead Palisades transformed into her dragon form and consumed Carl in one bite.
Palisades reverted back to human form (with Carl still digesting in her TARDIS-like stomach) and immediately apologized for her impoliteness to the café owners, employees and the handful of patrons present at the time (all Vietnamese). To a person, everyone thought Palisades' behavior was understandable. Considering Carl's boorish behavior up until the moment of his demise, everyone thought Palisades had shown considerable restraint.
The local merchants and police hushed up the exact nature of Carl's disappearance. Said disappearance would inspire all sorts of conspiracy theories from his followers and detractors alike. A few would correctly guess that, instead of debunking a monster, a monster had debunked Carl.
Carl's dating life is over, but does Palisades ever use the app again?
