Cody was quite surprised by how sweet and fizzy the water in the oasis was, but then he realized that it wasn't water, but soda he was drinking. He wondered if it was a good idea to drink soda given how he was probably pretty dehydrated, but the clear, lemon-lime soda refreshed him and revitalized him just as much as water would have, so he shrugged it off and dunked his head in again to get another drink.
He kept repeating this process, dunking his head in to get a good healthy gulp, then resurfacing to get more air. Every time he resurfaced, he would also belch loudly, as it was soda after all. Regardless, he also felt better after every gulp, his exhaustion melting away as he no longer felt dehydrated. He felt like a new boy, but he still wanted more!
Eventually, he took his head out for more than a few seconds and belched loudly once more. He patted his belly, only to feel how rounded it was. He looked down and saw that his lightly tanned belly was almost completely exposed to the air, his shirt having lifted up. It was about the size of a basketball and it was full of soda, though Cody strangely didn't feel full at all.
