Emma is struggling against your grip, so you just tighten it.

When you get to the family room, you put her on the arm of an overstuffed chair, then take a seat in the chair.

"Listen, Emma, I know you're freaked out by what's happened, but you can't just take it out on Anna," you explain to her, using as soft and gentle voice as you can.
