Seeing as you had absolutely no idea how swapping with a video game would work, you decide to play it safe for now. Instead of swapping anything related to your own body or mind, you decide to just swap your clothes. Worst case scenario, you'd just end up naked. You select the option and drag it over, watching as the images on the screens changed. The change to your screen was obvious. It now depicted you wearing Princess Peach's outfit. From her dress to her accessories, and even her makeup, you were wearing it all.
"Huh," you mumble to yourself. perhaps the remote had allowed you to select Peach as the target after all. That raised the question of why exactly the screen had showed the game rather than Peach herself. Of course, a quick look at the other screen revealed the true reason. It still depicted the game, but a couple things had changed. Peach was still where she was supposed to be, only now her girly pink dress was replaced with the plain t-shirt and pants you were currently wearing. She wasn't the only thing that had changed though. Bowser was also still on screen, and instead of just wearing a few spiked armbands and a collar, he was actually wearing clothes. Clothes that you recognised, in fact. They weren't what you were wearing at the moment, but you were sure you had those clothes somewhere in your wardrobe. This warranted further investigation. "Confirm," you say aloud, wanting to see where exactly this would go.
Time resumes, and you quickly reach for the controller to pause the game. You hadn't had much of an interest in playing in the first place, but you had even less interest now that you were dressed like Princess Peach herself. With the game paused, you quickly stand up to take stock of yourself, wobbling a little as you find your feet in an unfamiliar position. Looking down at yourself, you find yourself clad in Peach's elaborate pink dress, as was to be expected. You were also wearing her gloves, and lifting up the hem of your dress, you find your feet clad in her heels and stockings. You could feel her crown pressing down atop your head, and your ears had been pierced, each carrying one of her large earrings. You could feel what you assumed to be makeup on your face, and you even your underwear seemed to have changed into something much silkier and more feminine. You'd gotten the full package.
You admittedly felt a little silly like this, being a teenage boy dressed like a girly cartoon princess, but this wasn't the exciting part. Carefully mincing your way over the wardrobe, careful not to trip over your dress or heels, you throw open the doors and marvel at what was inside. You had a feeling about what you'd see there, seeing as Bowser was wearing your clothes too, but that didn't stop it from being any less impressive. Crammed inside your wardrobe was the clothes of every playable character in Smash Bros. From Mario's overalls to Zelda's dress to Duck Hunt's collar, and everything in between. There even seemed to be the same palette swaps that the game featured, as you could spot a few differently coloured copies of the dress you were currently wearing.
A wide grin spreads across your perfectly pink lips. You'd never really been one for cosplay, but even still, being able to dress up as all these characters seemed like fun, especially considering, if the remote's manual was the be believe, no one would think it strange for you to be wearing this stuff around. Admittedly, Peach probably wouldn't have been your first choice to dress up as, but that hardly mattered now that you had the entire roster to try out if you wanted. Maybe you had time for a little fashion show before dinner, trying out some of your new clothes before your mum called for you.
Then again, you didn't know how long it would be until dinner, and glancing down at your outfit again, you had a feeling it would take a while to put it on or take it off. Maybe you should do something else. Naturally, your eyes drift towards the remote again. If the remote could do this, then what else could it do? Apparently swapping with the game meant swapping with all the characters in it, at least in terms of physical swaps. How would it work if you tried to swap a body part or something? Would it still swap with all of them? Would you be able to switch that part between the different characters at will, or would you just have multiple of that part at the same time? And of course, the game wasn't the only thing you could swap with. Switching with a game seemed to work a bit strangely, but the fact that it had worked at all only seemed to stoke the fires in your mind. With every new target you found, more possibilities seemed to open. Even if you wanted to go simpler, the remote would still allow you to do that. You could swap anything you wanted.
Although, perhaps you shouldn't go too overboard so soon. You'd already done one swap, changing your clothes and, in the process, an entire video game. Maybe you should explore this reality a little before you go any further. Know how much would change thanks to a single swap would probably help you out in the future. For example, did this change just your copy of Smash Bros, or did every copy of the game have your clothes now? You assumed it had only affected the characters' appearances in Smash and not in other games, since your wardrobe lacked any clothes they wore outside of Smash, but that still begged the question of whether the change also affected other games in the Smash Bros series. Perhaps in this reality, you wore the clothes from earlier games when you were younger. And for that matter, how had this change affected you? Your wardrobe clearly contained clothes for both men and women, and assuming someone hadn't forced you to wear this dress and put on makeup, the you of this reality apparently had no qualms with crossdressing. Perhaps it would be wise to check some photos to get an idea for your new fashion sense. You didn't want to go mixing and matching parts from different characters' outfits if people weren't expecting that from you. It was especially important for characters like Bowser. He wore nothing but a pair of spiked arm bands, so would it be fine for you to walk around naked besides those bands? These were things you needed to find out if you were going to keep these new clothes.
