This choice: They make it to ‘Ye Olde Magick Shoppe’ in short order. • Go Back...Chapter #6They make it to ‘Ye Olde Magick Shoppe’ in ... by: Vanilla Thunder Thankfully, to Eric's immense pleasure, their destination was rather close to the entrance, so they managed to make it in before Eric had another incident.
"This definitely looks like how I expected." Kyle said, as they walked into the curio store, passing various artifacts on the shelves as they walked towards the counter.
The counter was un-manned, but Eric quickly located a bell on the counter and tapped it. Almost instantly, an older woman, maybe in her thirties, walked out from behind a beaded curtain leading into a back room.
"Yes?" she asked.
"Are you the owner?" Kyle asked.
"I was last time I checked." she chuckled. "Before you ask, we don't do returns. Only store credit."
"It's not that." Eric interjected. "We uh... heard that you had... experience with..."
"There's always been a rumor that you're a witch. Is it true?" Kyle bluntly asked.
"That depends." she replied. "Why do you ask?"
Eric and Kyle immediately explained their situation, as the owner listened intently, remaining silent until they finished.
"Very irresponsible, playing with magic that you don't understand. Do you have the book with you?" she asked.
"No, but I took pictures of the spell on my phone. We couldn't find any reversal spell." Kyle said, handing his phone to the owner.
"Ah, Transfiguration Feminam. Not particularly common, but one I've seen before. I assume he said it, and you happened to be in the room?" the owner asked, first pointing at Kyle, and then Eric.
"We both said it!" Eric exclaimed. "At the same time. But only I was transformed... for some reason."
"Magic relies on belief and desire. A spell like this requires the user to truly want the result." the owner said.
"And you had like, second thoughts at the end, you were telling me you didn't want to do it." Kyle added.
"And because in your mind, you had doubts, the magic refused to work for you." the owner finished.
"That's a stupid rule..." you muttered.
"Many rules are." the owner said.
"Whatever, can you reverse it?" Eric asked.
"Reversal is... complicated. This wasn't like say, turning into a frog or something, which is just a simple reversal. This requires an inverse spell."
"Inverse spell, like a transfiguration for men?" Eric asked.
"Exactly. Unfortunately, while I have seen it before, I'll need a few days to locate it." the owner said.
"What am I supposed to do for a few days? I can't walk around like this!" Eric shouted.
"If it's any consolation, you make a very pretty girl." the owner said, before turning to Kyle. "You have wonderful taste."
Eric blushed furiously.
"Thank you very much." Kyle said. "We really appreciate it."
"Don't thank me yet, I haven't fixed your friend yet." the owner said. "I'll call you when I find the spell."
"Come on," Eric muttered as he started to walk out of the store.
Kyle followed behind.
"What now?" Kyle asked. "If you're gonna be stuck like this for a few days, you're gonna need some clothes. I dig the retro look, but..."
"What I really need..." Eric brushed another strand of hair out of his face. "Is a haircut. This hair is driving me nuts." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
