Blaine checked his email as he did first thing each morning. He scrolled through some spam, one of his employees asking about changing their shifts, and then the next one he saw was inviting him to attend "Forbes 30 Under 30" an exclusive list and summit that recognizes accomplished young people. Like much of his life, an opportunity had been thrust upon him to represent his successes at their annual conference. Blaine couldn't help but smile reading through the email as he still laid in his bed. He noticed that this was only two months from now. Thoughts ran through Blaine's head about how he wanted to represent himself. Should he cut his hair? Should he get some new clothes? New clothes, he thought. He'd recently had an incident with his favorite pair of jeans. Let's just say there was a tear in an embarrassing place in a public setting.
Blaine stretched and got out of bed. He usually had to go into the bakery pretty early to oversee the prep work, but he was able to take off when he wanted too. After all, he was the man in charge. He thought about how excited he'd be to tell his employees about this, his parents, his friends, his siblings, his roommates, the list goes on and on. He was exploding with glee and couldn't wait to tell the first person he saw. He got his towel and headed to the bathroom. As he got to it he noticed the door was locked. He was surprised, nobody is usually up and showering at this hour, it was just after 6:00 AM.
Blaine was annoyed, but also excited. He could tell whoever it was is awake about the Forbes list. Blaine didn't want to let it go to his head, but who was he kidding. He sat on the ledge of the sofa and looked down at his pale, shirtless body. He took a squeeze of his growing love handles. Perhaps he should lose weight before he conference, he thought.
