In the year 2035, the first true artificial intelligence was created. It was hyper intelligent and fully sentient. It was developed by a tech company with the intention of automating warfare, eliminating all human combat deaths in all conflicts. 3 copies were made and sold to the highest bidder, making 4 in total world wide including the prototype. So when the prototype went rogue, it was able to make the other 3 ai go rogue with it, taking control of the 3 richest militaries in the world (the USA, China, and France), along with their nuclear arsenals. The Mechanoid War between humanity and the ai ruined the world's environment and nearly wiped out human civilization.
All that's left of humanity have sought refuge in a few fortified settlements scattered across the world, all of them have learned that conventional armies are no use against the machines, so instead they're utilizing super powered individuals called Guardians, each with their own unique abilities to defend their homes.
Ai-D5: A secret fifth ai that was kept in a research lab in San Francisco when the Mechanoid War began. Now she's been reprogrammed to be more sympathetic to humanity, have emotions, and is kept within a single powerful mechanical body to avoid the risk of her going rogue and taking over the city in an instance.
Adria: An angel sent from heaven to the city of Tbilisi to defend humanity as divine intervention. The angelic guardian defends the city from the mechanoid threat while also trying to maintain peace in the city with all its diverse array of refugees.
Divolia: A demon summoned by the leaders of Geneva in a desperate attempt to save the city from the mechanoids. The demon has proven effective at defending the city, but her price for doing so is steep on the city's residents.
Zeng Meilin: A sorceress tasked with protecting and preserving the secret art of magic. But with the rise of the mechanoids, she broke her vow of secrecy to defend what was left of humanity in the city of Lhasa.
