She joins him in a meditation session, with int...

"Hi, Knuckles!"

The Echidna jumped, quickly shifting into a fighting stance, ready to pummel whoever-

"Oh." Knuckles froze, "Hi, Amy."

"What're you doing?" She smiled, choosing to not embarrass Knuckles by pointing out his overreaction. Knuckles exhaled through his teeth, letting the tension slide out of him before returning to sitting on the ground.

"Meditating." He said, hoping his briskness would let the girl know he wasn't in the mood to be bothered. It didn't work.

"Can I join?" Amy asked, sitting down next to him as though he'd already said yes. Knuckles felt a twinge of annoyance, but he supposed as long as she was quiet...

"Sure." He said, closing his eyes once again. Amy closed her eyes too, feeling the ambient energy of the Master Emerald radiating around her. Her breathing slowed, the energy seeming to slowly converge around her. She felt a slight heat in her chest that soothed her, like a warm hug. A smile teased at the corners of her mouth. This was nice. Maybe she should do this more often.

When she opened her eyes...
