As soon as the die stopped rolling and showed Peter had rolled a 6 you'd have thought he just won an actual game. "Hell yeah! First time playing this game and I'm already playing as well as you can play!" He held up his hand for a high five from his girlfriend, which Judy reluctantly and half heartedly returned as she rolled her eyes.
"Not so fast, you've still got to do the Challenge card before you'll be able to do anything else." Eugene reminded him.
"I have to what?" Peter asked confused.
"Were you really not paying attention?" Lindsey said getting a little annoyed that Peter wasn't respecting the game.
Peter was about to come up with what he thought was probably going to be a super smart and witty retort, when he noticed that he was already holding a yellow challenge card in his hand. "What? Where'd I draw this from?" He asked the group in general. All of them looked at each other and Peter before Judy said, "You must have picked it up during your stupid celebration without realizing it."
"Yeah, you're already subconsciously playing the game the way it was meant to be played." Eugene said trying to massage Peter's ego to make this experience a bit easier. Who knows? Maybe Peter would have fun and actually be willing to play other games that other people actually pick out.
"Yeah, that must be it." Peter said really not remember where he got this card from.
"Your team is undermanned, instead of eleven you have four.
In real life these guys would show you chumps the door.
But this challenge here can help even the odds.
These 3 choices can help your team play like Gods.
You can absorb a team members skill and carry the team alone.
You can share your strength with others although you'd probably rather just moan.
Or you can sacrifice yourself to give your team a moral boost.
You must choose now or a penalty will be introduced."
"That's...rather vague as far as the game mechanics of this choice goes." Lindsey said slightly confused.
"If I had to interpret it, the first choice gives Peter a big boost, presumably to his rolls, but might give the rest of us a disadvantage. The second choice might a minor disadvantage to him, but gives a small boost to us, and the third choice probably means the same but it's a big sacrifice to him and big boost for us." Eugene said doing his best to interpret the Challenge card.
"Well babe, what's it going to be?" Judy asked with a little bit of judgment to her voice.
