Chapter #6Don't let the Bed Bugs Bite (or Shrink)! by: G-Breaker Lucas Nickle is an ordinary, and rather weak, ten-year old boy who has often suffered at the hands of the bullies in his neighborhood. Sick and tired of getting picked on so much, poor Lucas takes his anger out on the ant hill in his front yard, belittling all of the little ants who can't fight back. But what the boy doesn't know is that the ants are a lot smarter and more sentient than people think they are.
Inside the ant hill, the ants who are forced to suffer from Lucas' attacks work very hard to maintain their colony's stability, as they see the giant humans that inhabit their world as nothing more than a threat to their survival. However, one ant among them in particular has a different opinion on humans.
She was a female ant named Hova who hoped to make peace with the humans rather than be afraid of them. Hova was always interested in studying humans and wanted to learn more about them, even though the rest of the colony was against her for it. But that wasn't going to stop her. Thanks to her wizard friend, Zoc, Hova was finally going to get her chance to get to know humans better. Through a potion that Zoc crafted for her, Hova was about to put a plan of her's into action.
That night, everyone in Lucas' house was sound asleep. The only ones in the house were Lucas, his teenage, older sister, Tiffany, their mother, Doreen Nickle, and their grandmother, Grandma Mommo. As for Lucas' father, he had to attend a business trip and would be away for a few days.
While everyone was fast asleep, however, Hova was able to sneak into Lucas' bedroom through a crack in his floor boards. Carefully, she climbed to the top of the bed where she saw Lucas' giant form as he was sleeping on his side, exactly what Hova was hoping for. She then walked across his body until she got up to his and looked through the deep hole that was his ear canal. It was then that she was ready to make her move on the boy that her fellow ants have labeled "the destroyer."
Hova had her chance, but she was hesitant to do it at first. She thought that maybe it wouldn't be right to force this on the boy, even if he destroyed their ant hill many times in the past. But if she wanted him to stop hurting her and her colony, then Hova thought it would be better if he lived his life from their point of view. So, as per Zoc's instructions, she took out the potion he gave her and poured a small drop of it down Lucas' ear canal.
After a few minutes, Hova watched as the sleeping boy slowly dwindled in size. Lucas' entire body shrank smaller and smaller until he couldn't even fit in his pajamas anymore, it appeared that his clothes didn't shrink along with him, unfortunately. Once the shrinking process finally stopped, Lucas was still fast asleep, and now it was Hova who was looking down at him.
Careful not to wake the shrunken boy up, Hova lifted up his body and saw that he was about now standing at about half of her height. Now that she had what she wanted, Hova's next mission was to get Lucas back to the ant hill unharmed. She soon carried his tiny form and climbed down the bed to make her way through the giant bedroom door in front of them.
Lucas was still asleep as Hova carried him through the hallway of his house. However, he soon felt a chill as he didn't have any clothes on and had nothing to keep himself warm at night. It was almost enough to stir the shrunken boy awake. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
