Deciding to make something up to Liz, not wanting to seem like a crazy person, Steven began stammering something about his alarm clock, hoping that she would believe his poor excuse for a lie. Hearing a sigh with clear disappointment, Liz said: "Sure. But you are gonna have to explain yourself to Emma." as she hung up. Gulping, Steven knew just how scary the store manager could be, especially when she put on her "nice voice" as she scolded the employees. Not looking forward to the fun conversation in Emma's office, Steven drove off to Wilko, the thought of Emma's scolding slowly being replaced by the events of the prior night and that morning.
Arriving at Wilko, Steven held his head low as he walked by the other employees, trying his best to avoid the embarrassment of being late to work so soon after his promotion. Walking into Emma's office, he was greeted by Emma on the phone, occupied with important business. Sitting down in the chair opposite her, Steven waited patiently as Emma turned her back to Steven, continuing to talk on the phone and talking business. Remembering the images that blazed his mind that morning, Steven contemplated if he was going crazy or if he actually could do the things he saw.
Focusing on his body, Steven was amazed as his body began fading away, before being see-through, his ghost-like form wearing his usual trousers and employee shirt. Deciding to see if others would be aware of him like this, Steven floated towards his manager, floating directly in front of her face and yelling "Emma" repeatedly, excited when his boss had no reaction to his shenanigans. Now the question remained: Should Steven continue messing with his manager with his powers or not?
